This is our second winter visit to Fritton and our fifth in total. The woodland elite lodges with the hot tub are supposed to be the best but sadly there were a lot of niggles. The lodge was very short on plates and crockery. There were 6 people staying and we couldn't all have a hot drink at the same time. The dishwasher must need some maintenance because it rarely managed a good clean. This was a big problem as we were so short of crockery we had to use it a lot. There were 2 breakfast bowls...not enough cutlery....you get the picture!

A lot of the kitchen cupboards wouldn't even open without us having to adjust the hinges. For example you couldn't open the drawers next to the dishwasher when we first arrived.

There was a lot of dust about. Under the beds were filthy, as were the sofas.

The master ensuite bathroom shower was covered in black mould and the drain was blocked so you had to stop showering half way to prevent flooding.

There were 10 hangers for clothes across 3 wardrobes.

We also called in advance this time to check the correct chemicals would be regularly added to keep the hot tub water clean. Sadly this wasn't done again.

Fritton is a great resort but the lodges at just over £400 a night for the 6 of us need more attention. It's not a cheap break and as such you expect the standard to be higher.

We have just returned from a weeks break and have already discusses going back. The lodge was large and comfortable, with all the mod cons. Very clean and with the added bonus of a bath to soak away tired limbs. The site has glorious woodland walks and are very accepting of dogs on the site and in the lodges. The area was perfect for the Norfolk Broads and only a stones throw from Great Yarmouth. We will definatley be coming back again.

The lodge we stayed in was lovely-roomy and well equiped. The beds were excellent,as were the bed linen and towels. The lodge slept six but as seems to be quite common, there was comfortable seating for four only. The setting was great,in very quiet woods.Families with children would be spoilt for choice when it came to activities and would enjoy watching the wildlife at close quarters. If I was to nitpick-the cooker was not easy to use and you needed to be rather tall to reach the kitchen wall cupboards. That being said, the overall quality was so good I wouldnt hesitate to recommend these lodges.

Room Tip: Lakeview Premier 3 is a superb self-catering lodge

This was our first holiday to the resort.. we stayed in a very well presented and clean log cabin.. which my children nicknamed 'loggie'.. we booked a 7 day holiday.. but extended it to a 10 day holiday as we weren't ready to come home.. The settings are idyllic and tranquil.. lots of things to do.. Our children took part in a range of outdoor activities such as tree climbing , bushcraft and archery .. The staff were extremely helpful and polite throughout our stay.. would recommend a stay here..
