“Stunning location and excellent accommodation!”

Brekka Lodge offers first class accommodation in a stunning location with sea views. The lounge is comfortably furnished and offers beautiful views out to sea. A TV and DVD player are provided, as well as a selection of books about Shetland. The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you need when self-catering and included a welcome pack of milk, butter, tea, coffee, oatcakes and chocolate brownies. Upstairs there are 2 large bedrooms and a bathroom with bath and separate shower cubicle. Everything is very well maintained and immaculately clean. From the garden behind the lodge it is a short walk down to a small beach.

Brekka Lodge is an excellent base for exploring Shetland and is only a few minutes from the main road and is only a 10 minute drive from Lerwick. The owner's have thought of everything to ensure their guests have an enjoyable stay and I had such a good time that I have booked a return visit.

“Base for birding Shetland”

Brekka Lodge in Fladdabister was an excellent choice for our stay on Mainland Shetland, The lodge itself is decorated to a high standard and the doors stairs and floor made of pale american oak.. The kitchen is fitted Bosch appliances and has every thing you need for self-catering. It is well designed as all windows look over the sea. The bathroom and shower are also to a very high standard. The heating system and insulation mean that the lodge is warm and cosy all the time. This place would make a superb base for a summer stay on Shetland as well as an excellent base for birdering/wildlife watching at any time of the year. It is only 9 miles from Lerwick. Sheila lives next door and was very helpful in any needs or requirements we had.

“We fell in love with Shetland at Brekka Lodge”
Reviewed 21 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

Brekka Lodge is perfectly placed for touring Shetland. It is close enough to Lerwick not to feel too isolated (a short 9 miles) but far enough away to be a lovely rural retreat. The tiny hamlet of Fladdabister is a charming mix of ruined croft houses and derelict lime kilns harking back to the harsh days of crofting and fishing and comfortable modern houses, some in the lovely wooden Scandinavian style so typical of Shetland. Brekka Lodge is one of the latter, well appointed well equipped and furnished, immaculately well looked after and as warm as toast on cool evenings. We loved it; the kitchen has everything required with a much appreciated welcome pack (milk, bread, butter, tea, coffee, sugar and a sweet treat). The living room is comfortably furnished with TV and DVDs although we didn't ever have time to turn them on (there is just so much to do in Shetland). We did however make good use of the local guide books and brochures provided. The bedrooms are spacious with a comfortable king size double and an large room with twin beds (we think this sleeps more than 2 but we didn't use this room). The bathroom is large and modern with a corner bath and good shower. There is also a small utility with a washing machine downstairs and ample parking outside. The garden is large (shared with the owners' house next door) with lots of birds visiting, picture postcard views and a lovely walk down through wild flower meadows to a little rocky bay that has a lovely private feel to it; we just loved sitting on the rocks watching the seals, gannets, terns and passing boats in the evening (we were very lucky with the weather) although we didn't catch sight of the elusive otter. Sheila, the owner, is friendly and helpful and rightly takes great pride in this lovely property. We highly recommend Brekka Lodge - we just wished we had booked it for longer as we hardly scratched the surface of these wonderful islands. We'll certainly be back - thank you Sheila and George for welcoming us; our love affair with Sheltand has only just begun!

“Brilliant accomodation and perfect location to explore all Shetland has to offer”
Reviewed 27 July 2015 for a stay in July 2015

We could not fault Brekka lodge, it was immaculately presented and was equipped with everything we could have needed and more. The location of the lodge is an ideal base for getting around the whole of Shetland. The highlight of our stay was our evening walks down to the beach below the lodge to watch the otters and seals.
