“Just Perfect!”
Reviewed 4 June 2016 for a stay in May 2016

Thank you, Julia and Martin, for a wonderful stay at Sticky End. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at your property and in the beautiful village of Cottesmore. It was a magical place for two Aussies wishing to experience the English countryside.

Sticky End is a treasure! A picture-perfect thatched cottage, inside and out, filled with antiques and collectables; every corner and shelf holds more to behold and be thrilled by. And if that wasn't enough, every detail had been thought of to make us comfortable: superior beds and pillows and duvets, two treacle tarts from the local bakery as a welcome (yum!), plenty of helpful information about the surrounding area, a full laundry supplied with all the necessities (full bottles and boxes, not just little two-use ones), to name just a few. Visiting Sticky End was like being a very welcome guest in a beautiful home.

Thank you both again for your hospitality. I'm sure you're very proud of the service you provide to your guests ... and you should be!

“Cosy, quirky, comfortable and just perfect.”
Reviewed 28 May 2016 for a stay in May 2016

Just home from a wonderful week in this beautiful cottage. So comfortable, full of antiques and interesting bits and pieces. Lovely lounge, huge bedroom and a delightful little courtyard which is a perfect suntrap for a BBQ or quiet afternoon with a G&T and a book. Great local pub within 5 minutes walking distance; excellent food there - steak night - 2 steaks with all the trimmings, plus a bottle of decent wine - £20. Rutland Water, just about 8/10 minutes drive is beautiful and worth several trips. Barnsdale gardens are a must; 39 gardens, all created by the TV gardener, Geoff Hamilton, and only 5 minutes drive from the cottage. Julia and Martin are wonderful hosts - there if you need them but never interfering. All in all a perfect week, and one we hope to do again. Thank you Julia and Martin.

Liked best: Hard to say, but the overall comfort of the cottage, the big log fire and just everything.
Liked least: Nothing!

“Prettiest and most romantic cottage imaginable!”
Reviewed 27 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

We stayed at Sticky End for three nights en route to our holiday in the Peak District. All the pictures do not do credit to the beautiful cosy cottage. It really is breathtaking inside beautiful cosy furnishings and wonderful antiques and historic items. It has a lovely kitchen, the lounge is warm and comfortable with the little library full of old books and everyting you could possibly need to make your stay perfect. Extensive selection of cds dvds and games if it rains! Upstairs the collection of teddy bears and toys brought a nostalgic tear to the eye. Martin was very helpful and charming. The village is lovely with a pub with a cinema and an amazing bakery around the corner and close to Rutland Water and Barnsdale gardens. It really is perfect and we will be back as soon as possible!

“Great cottage in super location”
Reviewed 27 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

The cottage is fantastic, well set out and excellently equipped, a real home from home. I loved the antiques, and bits and pieces, although it was a bit "cluttered" on some of the surfaces, which I thought was a bit impractical, but that’s just a personal opinion and me probably being too practical. The location of the cottage is great for all the main towns and markets, and some fantastic walks in glorious countryside are only a few moments’ drive away. The Sun pub in the village is great for a beer and some good honest pub food, and is only a short walk away, as is the village store. There are many great pubs in the villages around Cottesmore, many at the start and end of a good walk. We can't recommend this cottage more highly.
