Without doubt the best eating and drinking establishment in Ross. We camped locally for the bank holiday weekend and returned here every time. Atmosphere great and always busy. Fabulous cocktails and the peanut butter cheesecake is delicious! Dog friendly and frequented by locals and visitors alike.

We've previously stayed in The King's Head and always recommend it to friends and family who are visiting Ross. We frequently eat in the restaurant and you can either dine in the restaurant or eat in the library or bar. We generally opt for the library which is quite cosy and quiet. The food is great, I love the burger, but there are always a variety of classics with local food featuring. The pie of the day is really popular too, my husband couldn't stop talking about the game pie a few weeks ago. We keep going back to The King's Head as the staff are friendly and helpful and the atmosphere is great.

Room Tip: We had the family room at the top of the room which was

Maybe I'm being too harsh bearing in mind this is only a 3* hotel.............
Good points - nice toiletries and soft fluffy towels in a newly refurbished bathroom (facial tissues would be a nice addition though) - hotel has lots of character and some great staff.
Points to note - the car park can be a bit tricky to enter, so you need to be careful and it gets full - the outside space can get noisy at night, especially when customers are leaving.
Bad points - three nights in a 4 poster room were uncomfortable as the mattress sagged in the middle and wasn't deep enough to protect legs from the wooden base when getting in and out of bed - bathroom extractor fan broken - creaking floorboards, which at first seemed charming, but not at 2 am, 4:30 am and 5:30 am when someone was walking about - fresh towels were left on the floor in the hallway during maid service; not very hygienic - tables in the bar and restaurant remained uncleared for long periods of time.
Quick fixes (training/attitude adjustment?) - a few of the staff verged on the downright rude - also the person who checked us out just stated the total amount of the bill without providing a copy and I had to request this to check the dozen or so items; he looked rather affronted that I had dared to ask.
Final point - breakfasts were fairly good, but Welsh Rarebit starters for dinner consisted of a toasted lump of bread with virtually no cheese or flavour; the lamb shank, however, was delicious.
So, would we return or recommend this hotel? Sadly not, unless there are some improvements.

We stayed for two nights with our dog over the Easter holiday . The hotel is full of character and has a very homely feel to it. We stayed in room 11 which was very spacious and spotlessly clean. We enjoyed relaxing on the lovely comfy sofas in the library and were able to eat breakfast and dinner in there with our dog. The food is excellent quality and the waiting staff are friendly and attentive. The bar area is lovely and seemed very popular with the locals The hotel has a car park directly behind and we were always able to get a space. We would definitely return if we stayed in the area again.
