We had dinner here one night last week and it exceeded our expectations. It has a lovely warm ambience which is met by the friendliness of the staff. We arrived with our dog and they found us a lovely corner in a cosy room opposite the bar. We shared the fish platter to start which was huge and extremely fresh, then I had the goat (local) tagine and my husband had the pie of the day which was steak and ale - he ate every morsel despite our huge portions.
Would definitely return.

Visited for a light lunch and was made to feel very welcome. Despite a lengthy wait for lunch the food was lovely, our dog was welcomed and even treated with a few biscuits.

Friday night, not booked but they were able to accomodate myself and my wife with a table in a corner so we had some privacy. They did try to get us to wait in the bar area whilist the table was prepared but that was more of a typical drinking persons area and how long does it take to set a table – 2 minutes! The staff took our order promptly, though the time taken to receive the food was slow given that the resturant was being to thin out at 8.15pm. The food when it did arrive was excellent we both had the Shin of beef, it was nicely presented and was so tender.
Did have to attract the waiter’s attension to order dessert and that was slowish coming also but again it was nicely presented and had all the compoents I would expect with cheese and biscuits.
The atmosphere in the restuant was totally diffent to the bar area and I can see how easy it would be to look in to bar and see if was like a typical drinkers pub and and miss the relaxed and tranquility of the resturant.

Went in here for evening meal after seeing the very reasonable menu. Took a while to be served drinks as husband couldn't get to bar. Whether it was staff or locals every other word was f...! There was a young family sitting near to them and I was surprised a member of staff didnt ask them to stop swearing. We left as quickly as possible and went to Wetherspoons

Thank you for your review.

We are pleased you enjoyed your two night stay in Ross on Wye and had a nice evening meal one night, in the hotel you were staying in.
We are a little confused on the two reviews you left on your other night in Ross. The one you posted on the King's Head and the one you posted for the King Charles appear very similar. It seems very unfortunate to have had the same experience of locals swearing next to a young family on both occasions, or were you perhaps confused over which establishment you were in as we both have similar names.

I can assure you and readers that, the King's Head Hotel does not countenance swearing by patrons or team members.

Thank you again
