Just returned from a dreadful night at the Grand Theatre. Went with my daughter to watch Doreen, Return of the yam yam. What an absolute load of rubbish! We were seated in the dress circle and as Doreen was positioned to the left of the stage we couldnt see her at all.
This may have been a blessing in disguise as her material was more suited to a holiday camp
I cant believe we paid £21.50 each to see this!
If we could have left early we would have but we were cammed in seats like sardines
We were literally watching a TV decorated with plastic vines and 3 stuffed monkeys.
Doreens chair was a bar stool draped with a leopard skin piece of material. Cut backs ay?
I have never seen anything quite so ridiculous!!
Take my advice and dont buy tickets for her next show!!

We visited for New Year’s Eve, to celebrate and take my little girl to her first pantomime. We booked a booth and that turned out a great choice! Snacks that were replenished and a waiter to serve us.
All of the staff were lovely and the show was fab. We’ve booked for this year

Went to see Sweeney Todd performed by an amatur company .Because it was amatur
seats were affordable(£20 plus) but I would seriously begrudge paying £50 plus to see a professional opera/musical here. Because it is such an old theatre you need to buy good seats..as some of the site lines are very poor.Leg room is also poor and seats not comfortable by modern standards..Bar waste of space and toilets inadequate. Ice creams £3.00. Watch out for home matches and Wolves on a Sat afternoon...things can get very congested in car parks./Wetherspoons opposite/ and public transport.
Much prefer a more modern theatre like the..B'ham Rep.
Booking charges also very expensive.
Saying that will probably book for "Top Hat" another amauture production this Oct but go for the best seats.

Last minute impulse to buy tickets, not been to see an Opera for years.
The Grand is a real Gem. The box office staff were most helpful over the phone when booking (talking me through patiently what seats were available), the door staff are friendly & bar staff work as fast as possible!
Because of last minute booking one seat had a restricted view (E38 dress circle), however, it really wasn’t that bad (£9 cheaper). The pillar is only about 6” wide & wasn’t a problem.
The show was excellent - helped by the drop down screen above the stage with English subtitles (to help those of us new to opera/Non Italian speakers!)
Only slight issue was that it was very warm in the auditorium, & 3toilets were out of use.

Went with friends for a night out. Mama Mia show was one of the most enjoyable shows I’ve been to. The performance was out of this world, the atmosphere was electric, many of us dancing in our seats all night. Would definitely recommend and go again.
