“Relaxing stay at Apple House, with great views!”
Reviewed 16 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

We had a fantastic week at Apple House. We arrived to a warm welcome. The cottage is so spacious and comfortable it is very well equipped with everything you need, comfy beds a lovely enclosed garden with 2 relaxing hammocks a fire pit, bbq, picnic bench & sun loungers. Richard & Caroline are so welcoming and very friendly with lots of advice on walks etc. The adjoining field had sheep and a friendly goat called Billy! The next field (front of the cottage) there were 2 friendly horses. My 2 girls loved playing in the gardens & fields they made friends with Richard & Caroline's 2 children, the dog Mollie & there 2 kittens they had hours of fun and they said it was the best holiday ever!! The views are fantastic & there are plenty of walks/activities within the surrounding area. Hay-on Wye & Brecon are not to far away. We will definitely be back. Thank you Richard & Caroline.

“Peaceful & Restful Cottage”
Reviewed 6 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

Loved our stay in Apple House. It was bright, airy and beautifully furnished to a high standard. It is also fully equipped with everything you would need. The fresh eggs, milk, butter & bread were very welcoming and a lovely touch.
The garden is fully enclosed and safe for young children and pets.
Richard & Caroline were lovely & helpful.

Thank you!

“Wonderful Weekend”
Reviewed 12 July 2016 for a stay in July 2016

We booked a weekend away with friends and our 3 dogs and what a weekend we had. The cottage is absolutely perfect and the huge enclosed garden was perfect for our dogs.

The cottage was spotless and modern and there were lots of welcome treats in the kitchen, a loaf of bread, milk, butter etc but the best things were the delicious welsh cakes which I had to sample one or two!

The garden was beautifully kept and was lovely to sit out in and watch the dogs run around. It was extremely peaceful with the occasional call from the sheep in the field behind which was actually quite relaxing! We enjoyed a bbq then late night drinks sitting around the fire pit.
We were left alone and it is indeed very private but we only had to knock the door to the main house for any assistance we needed. The owners were extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble.
The only criticism I have was the weather! There were absolutely no faults with the cottage and its surroundings and we will definitely be visiting again, hopefully the sun will make an appearance next time.
Thank you Richard and Caroline.

“Perfect Getaway ❤️”
Reviewed 11 July 2016 for a stay in July 2016

Absolutely stunning cottage. Owners Richard & Caroline have thought of every little detail! Wonderful arrival of milk, fresh bread, butter, eggs, tea and coffee and home made Welsh cakes by Richards Mum-perfect!
We had 3 dogs with us and the secure massive garden made for lots of fun! Hammocks, fire pit and BBQ-what more could you need?!
Bedrooms are gorgeous and a lovely huge bathroom with both bath and shower unit.
We were left to ourselves, but only a knock on the door of the owners home if we needed anything.
Lots of walks close by too, so no excuse to walk off those goodies provided!
No bad points at all - definitely will be returning, but for longer next time! X

“Utterly Smitten by both the Wye Valley and Apple House”
Reviewed 10 July 2016 for a stay in July 2016

The first thing I said after we had taken a minute to look around was "The pictures don't do it justice". Apple house is utterly gorgeous and maintained to a terrificly high standard . What the pictures don't get across is just how idilylic the surroundings truly are. A couple of horses sauntered over to the gate to greet us as we came and went each day. While we swayed in the hammocks all we could hear was the gentle bleating of the sheep in the small field out the back. When we climbed the hill at the back of the property we enjoyed amazing views from the ancient earthworks of the fortress that once stood here; Apple House is a perfect base for exploring Hay and the leisure opportunities of the upper Wye valley as well as getting into some serious walking on the Brecon Beacons. Everywhere we went the welcome felt warm and sincere, especially so from our 'hosts' Rich and Caroline and the kids and their adorable dog Molly. This was a really great week and we can't wait to book Apple House again.
