Jeannie is an excellent host with good knowledge about local area. The trip was marred by unprecedented rains which almost washed out the whole week of stay. Jeanie, being very thoughtful left leaflets for different indoor activities keeping in mind the weather that was to follow. Thank you for wonderful scones and cakes you left on the first day which were very delicious. There is a wonderful walk to camel's Hump with spectacular views from the top. It could be a wonderful walk on a clear day- do not forget walking boots. The cottage is surrounded by vast lawns and woods as one drives in and can encounter herd of deer if one's lucky. We spotted few running across the roads as we walked. The cottage has beautiful location and I would also recommend a day trip to Oban and drive around Glencoe which is a beautiful drive with some spectacular scenery.
I would also suggest to guests to make sure their drive to Dunnon includes a ferry to save about 50 miles of drive around which can take nearly 90 minutes to two hours.
Overall, despite the weather the stay was great and enjoyed thoroughly.
We arrived at Heronlea cottage and was met by Jean the owner with a friendly smile and a boiled kettle for tea and biscuits. She first showed us around the cottage told us everything we needed to know and handed us the key. We went outside and looked over a the very large green area with surrounded by trees, hills and not a sound to be heard, it was hard to imagine you were only just over a mile into Dunoon itself and this was tranquility. We also had our small dog with us and she was also welcomed with open arms and from the first to the last days loved her long walks in the countryside. The cottage itself has its living room upstairs with windows looking over the garden so you can watch the wildlife stroll by.If you are looking for a quiet secluded but still able to walk into town or even just a very nice holiday with your pet for long walks then this is for you. Thanks you Jean and Kevin you are so nice people and we are glad you let us spend time in your cottage and we will certainly be back .
Our family of four plus pur active dog had a wonderfully relaxing stay in this superbly appointed cottage. The neighbouring owners shared their parklike garden, their clothes line and homebaked cookies and even sewing thread, while leaving us to our own devices.
Great pointers about local dog rules, paths to run the dog off lead, and plenty of ideas for a great day of family adventure.
After we left, Jean found one of the kids library bookd under a bed, and called us to get an address to mail it back. Above and beyond hospitable! Thank you so much.
Stayed here for 4nights. Fabulous cottage in wonderful setting, gardens were perfect for waking dog, who loved all the wildlife!. Cottage very well equipped and spotlessly clean, owners were extremely friendly and welcoming. Would highly recommend
We had a really nice couple of nights at Heronlea. Absolutely perfect environment for us and our dog. Would love to go back.
