“A little gem!”

From the minute we arrived we knew this was a brilliant find. You know how it is, a last minute choice, which is normally okay and "this will do".
The lodge has everything you need and more, tucked away in a peaceful spot. When you turn into the drive it's as though you have somehow ended up in a place far from where you have just through. I would highly recommend this lovely hideaway to anyone wanting a cosy place to spend some quality time with a loved one away from the hustle and bustle of things. Many thanks to Jane, not only for the warm welcome, but also for the hot water bottle warming the bed! We will definitely be back!!

“Charming hideaway; everything provided!”

I booked two nights' accommodation at Old School Lodge because we were interested in visiting the parts of Kent to the north and south of Folkestone. As it was self-catering, I packed a bag with washing-up liquid, tea towel, j-cloth, pan-scourer, milk, tea, coffee and a sharp kitchen knife. I need not have bothered, as all this - and more - was thoughtfully provided in the pristine kitchen cupboards and fridge.
We stayed in miserable, wet, cold weather, but radiators heated the little studio flat up quickly. We even found a hot-water bottle had been put in the bed to warm it up for us! We could imagine how nice it would be in summer, to eat outside at the garden table.
On leaving, we planned an early start for France via the Tunnel - which could not have been closer (though no traffic noise could be heard). The village shares the same motorway exit as the Tunnel, so it took us all of seven minutes to arrive at the check-in - and we even got an earlier crossing than booked.
The only things that could be improved are the wifi access (we had no signal at all the whole time), and lights for reading - either on the sofa or in bed.
I did have a problem booking initially, when my credit card refused to let me use the HolidayLettings Paypal system, but all was eventually resolved.
We would gladly go back to the Old School Lodge, and would recommend it to others.

“Wow! A tranquil hideaway, so peaceful”
Reviewed 31 January 2014 for a stay in January 2014

A nice friendly welcome. Lovely peaceful stay away from the hussle and bussle of every day life. Nice & private. Facilities are very good although we didn't use the kitchen much. The grounds are beautiful. It's a nice place to come if you lead a busy life or live in London. We will definately return.
