“Lovely little cottage!”
Reviewed 3 May 2017 for a stay in April 2017

Just returned from a short break at Wisteria Cottage which is just a short drive from the beach. Lovely and cosy inside, lots of character due to the buildings age. The cottage itself was well equipped and nicely decorated. The beds were very comfortable and the roll top bath in the bathroom was a real bonus! Outside was a pleasant seating area and a huge (shared) garden which my dog enjoyed!
I would definitely recommend a trip into Dunster village (about 2 miles away) which has a National Trust Castle and some lovely eateries.

This is a nice little cottage with all the amenities you would expect form a self catering cottage. It is next to a large house that caters for large groups but don't let that put you off; there was a pretty large group there when we stayed and we hardly noticed them. Lovely large garden and dog friendly although not sure the chickens that were loose appreciated being 'investigated' by the dog.
Only two small let downs took it from good to average number one was the super king size bed which had considerable spring feel on the mattress and needed to be replaced. We mentioned this to the owner so I'm sure it will be rectified pretty quickly. there other was all the markings on the oven/hob have worn off making it a bit of guess work to figure out what controlled what and what setting it was on; a laminated sheet of the controls would be a useful addition.

“Looking forward to next time already!”

My partner and I regularly enjoy weekends away and this one did not disappoint us.

Having two dogs we are used to being limited with choice when it comes to accommodation, often even when we find somewhere that is ‘dog friendly’ we get put in the scruffiest of rooms with no frills but this was really different.

The cottage is really quaint in a charming rather than shabby way. It looked like a lot of the cottage had recently been refurbished to a high standard and we were really pleased that we were well kitted out with utensils and bits and bobs. Having said that we didn’t do an awful lot of self catering, the food in the hotel’s pub next door was so yummy, we did cheat most nights but it was nice to know we could have cooked in had we of wanted.

In terms of the location, we couldn’t have asked for much more. We were just a short drive from Dunster Castle and the town itself (which is full of lovely pubs and tea rooms) and had some great walks nearby either on shingle beaches or through woodlands.

Looking forward to our next visit already ☺

“A little Gem”
Reviewed 26 September 2014 for a stay in August 2014

Had planned to use this cottage as a base to explore Exmoor. Great location, close enough to the coast to walk the dog on the beach in the morning, but also right on the edge of Exmoor National Park
The cottage has obviously recently had some work done to it and the lounge was really cosy, with lots of space for the 2 of us
Lovely sunny courtyard and pretty little garden
Have booked to go back next year!

“Cold & Damp”

Lovely area & cottage on the outside, but advertised as central heated. The smaller bedroom had no heating at all, a window that didn't shut properly & paint flaking off the ceiling over the bed my son slept in. The larger bedroom & living room were heated by an electric fire. There was a large patch of damp on the ceiling in the large bedroom & patches on the living room & kitchen walls. We brought it to the attention of the owners father & father in law, but the owners never came to sort out.
