Me and my partner went for the first time and was told octopus area was closed due to work been done. However due to this we were both given free tickets to return in the next couple of months to see the work completed. A wide variety of sea life and very educational for all. Hands on tank was very informative and absolutely brilliant for all!

Disappointing visit - outside now looks dated. Despite pre booking on line, there were far to many people in the place at any one time making it very loud and problematic for my wife who was on crutches. Children struggled to see the fish as so many people. Didn’t justify the cost even with on line discount !!

Dear Guest,

I am sorry to read you were disappointed at your visit with us.

I can confirm that at no time have we exceeded our maximum capacity for guests in the centre at one time.

When booking online you save around 50% off the total cost of admission, which we believe is excellent value for money!

Paid for platinum ticket on line for quick entry what a waste of money still queued to get in and when we got in people was pushing and shoving you. Really bad set up.

Dear Debra

Thank you for taking the time to review Scarborough SEA LIFE.

On arrival to the centre there is a sign and lane for fast track queue, this lane is for platinum ticket holders only. I am sorry if you missed this sign and lane and will pass your feedback onto the relevant departments with the intention to update the signage and queuing system to make it easier for our guests.

Kind regards
The Scarborough Team

If your under 10 then you will enjoy this place. Not really for teenagers. Looking dated and a bit grubby. Very noisy particularly the unnecessary back ground music. Staff are helpful and friendly. Walk slowly or you’ll end up doing the whole place in less than 30 minutes. Parking outside but pay and display and expensive (not sea life’s but Scarborough councils car park). Ok place to kill an hour.

Dear Peter

Thank-you for your review.

With over 1000 animals and over 40 displays to admire and several talk and feeding demonstrations running throughout the day we recommend spending 2-3 hours in order to make the most of what we have to offer. Maybe more should you wish to take advantage of the free mini golf available to guests at the end of their visit.

For future reference there is free parking available at the top of the hill just a short walking distance from the centre.

Although I understand the importance for places like this I don't think it's appropriate to advertise the penguins if the area is locked off. The pirate golf was not as expected and the layout of the whole place seems confusing. You almost ask yourself if you've seen everything, 1 turtle but 50 seals? It seems very basic but we did get some nice photos.

Dear Ashley

Thank you for your feedback and review of Scarborough SEA LIFE.

I can confirm we have over 1000 animals, 11 turtles, 5 resident Seals, 4 rescue pups, 2 otters, 21 penguins, as well as an array of fish, crabs and other sea creatures.

The penguin walkway is closed off to guests, however the penguin enclosure is still open for public viewing and at no time have our guests been stopped from seeing the penguins. The reason we are unable to allow guests into the enclosure at the present time is due to the risk of Avian bird Flu to our penguins. As I am sure you will appreciate the health and safety of our animals is paramount!

When booking tickets online it clearly states our penguin walkway is currently closed off to guests, it also states the reasons why. When purchasing walk up tickets here at the centre on the day there is signage on the admission desk again explaining about the closure and the reasons as to why, we also tell our guests by word of mouth on arrival.

On arrival to the centre you will have been given a map and feeding talk leaflet, the route in and around the centre is clearly shown on the map, however not all of our guests chose to take this route and in fact prefer to make their own way in and around the centre.

I am pleased to read you did get some nice photos of your day here at Scarborough SEA LIFE.

Once again many thanks for your review
