we only stayed one night as we were dropping our son off at his new accomodation ready for starting at university. we decided to book directly on their website instead of via the usual lateroom/booking.com etc and on arrival we were immediately upgraded to a top floor executive room which was very very nice. only had a continental breakfast but what we had was excellent and tere was plenty of choice

Room Tip: book directly its cheaper and you might get an up grade

This is my personal view based on my recent experance. When we booked in there was a couple who paid £67 for room only and we paid £132 including breakfast. Both of us booked direct with the hotel and allowing for breakfast we were paying a lot more. The disabled walk in shower was a joke. This hotel looks good on the web site but I will never go there again.

thank you for taking the time to leave us feedback on your recent stay. regarding the rate we operate on a daily variable rate and also offer a number of different room types which are all set at different price rates. if you would like to explain more about why the walk in shower was a joke i would be more than happy to look into it for you, as we are always looking to improve our standards to ensure our guests have a great experience at the Crown Spa

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. Had upgraded to a superior room with sea views. Well worth it. Room was enormous. Rooms clean and bed comfortable. Breakfast was good with a choice of either Contintental or Full English.

Room Tip: Request a sea view.

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay with us at The Crown Spa Hotel. I was glad you were able to take advantage of our beautiful sea views during your stay and that your room was so satisfying. Our chefs work very hard on our dinner and breakfast menus so I will pass on your kind comments.

We stayed here for five nights in a front room with a sea view. On the whole we both were very happy. A couple of areas for improvement perhaps... whilst there was a coffee jug in the room, it was never emptied so we had to do this ourselves and the only way to do this was to use the bathroom sink which was messy. The juice at breakfast was watered down and I would have appreciated bottled water in the room each day particularly for a pricey hotel. That said, there were some big plus points. The room was spacious and the shower powerful and nice and hot. All the staff were excellent with a special mention to the cheery waiter who served the early bird suppers and the evening barman who helped find the football on the tv. The spa was lovely although the pool was too small for an energetic swim, it sufficed. We had the cream tea...warning...it's huge and defeated me although my husband heroically finished his. The location was perfect unless you have mobility issues in which case it's a fair old walk to the beach. We went to the theatre twice and it was an easy walk for us. I had two complimentary massages which hit the spot. Finally, as a vegetarian some of the buffet breakfast hot food was not edible for me but I hit gold with the eggs florentine on my birthday! Would definitely return and I'm a fussy blighter.

Room Tip: Sea view recommended. First floor means you don't have to wait for the lift.

May I first thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay with us. We appreciate all feedback both positive and negative as we strive to provide the best possible stays to all of our guests.

We love a special occasion at the Crown, so I was thrilled to receive such a great score and headline after being selected as the destination to spend your special day. The eggs Florentine certainly is a beautiful dish on our well picked breakfast menu!

Regards to your areas of improvement we always work extremely hard to resolve matters whilst we have guests in house and always encourage guests to raise any issues whilst they are with us so we can work to resolve them. As part of the 'green tourism' group we do not keep chilled water in the rooms. However we will deliver, 24 hours a day, refrigerated water to our guests just by dialing '0' from the telephone in your room. The Cafetiere should have been cleaned each day unless you had a 'do not disturb' sign displayed.

I was really happy that you were able to take in so much of what our beautiful seaside town has to offer. Whilst being located on the popular south cliff area benefits us with beautiful surroundings and views, as you stated, it does have the drawback of having the walk down to the seafront to contend with. That said there are some cliff lifts, one situated very close to the Hotel on the Esplanade which can run you up and down the hill, or the seafront bus route which stops just outside the Hotel upon request.

We will look forwards to welcoming you back through our doors again in the near future.

Kind regards, Matthew Lees

We are well travelled world-wide, usually staying in four or five star hotels. We are not complainers. We booked a four night B & B stay directly by phone and said that the price quoted at the time of booking that seemed very expensive even compared with London prices.
On arrival we were surprised how small the room was, but said nothing initially as we were tired after a days driving. We noted later in the evening that the room safe was non-functioning.
The following day we told reception that we were not happy with the room particularly at that price. A manager offered us a slightly larger room which we accepted, but stated again that it was still expensive.
On one occasion we had to wait at least fifteen minutes for a breakfast table despite avoiding the 'busy time' that we were helpfully warned about. Also after ordering full English breakfasts they were slow to arrive. But the staff were excellent - polite, friendly and hard working.
We booked for an evening meal prior to going to the theatre. We warned the staff that we were going to the theatre, We had allowed an hour for dinner and chose burgers as a quick & easy meal. They arrived after forty minutes. We were told the delay was in the kitchen. If it was going to take that length of time we should have been warned. The dining room was less than half full and I noted that other tables seemed to be served faster. The venison burgers were small & rather dry. .

Room Tip: Get a sea view - best views are on the higher floors.

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay with us at The Crown Spa Hotel.

We, at the Crown work hard to ensure that we keep our pricing strategy in line with similar establishments in our area and have just seen ourselves come towards the end of an exceptionally busy period. That said I was very glad to read that we were able to resolve the issue with your room, swiftly, whilst you were staying with us. We always do our best to resolve any issues whilst we have our guests with us.

Whilst we do our best to predict and manage breakfast service there may, on occasion, be a small wait for a table. We try and avoid this wherever possible and on the whole do a good job of managing our breakfast service. Thankfully we have a great breakfast menu for when guests are seated and I was happy to find that our staff cared for you so well during breakfast. A forty minute wait for food is over what we expect our guests to wait and someone should have been over, we do train our staff well and it is a shame that during an otherwise excellent service during your stay it was overlooked here.

Your detailed and thorough review is exactly the kind of information which helps us as a Hotel continue to improve and provide the best possible stays to all of our guests. We hope to welcome you through our doors again in the near future.

Kind regards, Matthew Lees
