Sidmouth is a great location. The courtyard rooms were super - spacious, clean, airy. The dinner was great - good food prepared nicely.
The spa was small but new. It was not a problem for us as it was not busy in April but it is tiny - quite disappointing in comparison to other spas or even the same hotel in Christchurch.
Afternoon tea was okay - let down by a tasteless cake - the waitress thought it was sticky toffee pudding cake but then came back to say it was carrot cake! Either way the chef had not tasted it.
Breakfast was slow - forgotten about tables, no toast, no orders taken. And the breakfast chef clearly did not prepare avocado on toast with any care for presentation - just slung on the plate. And they used cheap white bread when we asked for sour dough. Really disappointing.
Breakfast is the only meal where there was not a discretionary service charge and it showed - no customer care and no care about what was served. Suggest a real lack of management. More
