Checked out this morning. Stayed 1 night to watch Lionel Richie at Brunton Park which was amazing. Glass of wine on arrival given. The breakfast was good. The location is brilliant. Right in the centre and the staff were friendly and helpful. The public areas of the hotel are beautiful and you could even take those areas as a 4*. The room was basic and a little run down in comparison to the rest of the hotel. Could of done with better cleaning but it did for the time we were there. Had to wait a while to get my car out of their car park as everyone was wedged in and double parked. It took 2 members of staff to move a few vehicles so that I could leave. I would stay again.

Stopped here for one night to see the poppy display at the castle and was given a free upgrade to a suite. A smashing very large room at the front overlooking the square with a giant size bed. The hotel is classed as 3 stars but it's better than that, some hotels of this age can be tatty and aged but not the crown and mitre it's spotless with tremendous original features

This hotel is located right in the city centre and perfectly placed for everything . There is parking, although when the hotel is full it's necessary to hand your keys in as it gets very full. Good sleep quality, comfortable bed . Good shower, although we were not in the main hotel and the bathroom was tiny with a separate wc. The room was a bit tired but serviceable. Breakfast was unimaginative but good and substantial. The staff were friendly and helpful and we would stay again.

Booked for a two night stay in Carlisle, this is one of the few hotels in the centre with parking. Easy to find and very central to all the attractions. The hotel looks quite grand and the rooms have all the extra's that many have phased out. Staff were welcoming offering complimentary glass of wine on arrival. The room was clean and well appointed very comfortable bed, nice deep bath and shower. Couldn't be better located for great cafes and restaurants to suit all tastes. Rooms were on the small size but perfectly adequate and not cramped

There is so much that is good about the Crown and Mitre. It is located right in the city centre within easy walking distance of the cathedral and castle. The car park is small so may be a problem if the hotel is full but was very convenient for us. Reception staff are friendly and helpful. It’s a nice touch to be offered a complementary glass of wine on arrival. The lift is very dated but works well. Some rooms still need flights of stairs but ours didn’t. We had a superior room which was clean, quiet and well serviced. Breakfast was excellent and very efficiently managed. A coach load of Japanese tourists was dealt with splendidly. The bar and restaurant are relaxing and efficient. There is a nice swimming pool with a quirky system for entry.
All staff we came across were excellent. Thank you
