This was a business trip to Lincolnshire and having seen my last client nearby to Skegness we made our way to the Royal. It is a large Victorian building with an impressive reception; it had a domed ceiling with an impressive chandelier and double staircase to the rooms. It is a hotel where they have plenty of activities and theme weekends. It is close to the beach and the centre of town with all the usual seaside amusements shops etc. On the night we stayed there was an entertainer who sounded very good. We dined in the Viceroy Restaurant and had a very good two course meal for only £11.50 pp. In the morning the breakfast was a buffet full English and or continental with cereals fruit juice tea and coffee etc. Our room faced the front and was not large with what can only be described as a small double bed rather than a King Size as we have become accustomed to. The hotel is a little old fashioned but is clean and comfortable. The staff were a bit thin on the ground but overall helpful and pleasant.

We all had the carvary and all nine plates were cleared, the meat was very tender and all the vegetables were fresh not frozen, staff are eager to please and nothing is too much trouble.

They could probably do with more staff on the bar instead of expecting the one staff member to cover a busy bar and the reception at the same time, however this did not spoil our lunch.

In Skegness for the Butlins Brass Band contest. The Staff on reception very helpful and pleasant. The room was spacious and clean, however no heating at all in bathroom - This is January.!!! Asked for early breakfast - as did a lot of people - told that they knew people would want early cooked breakfast but the cook wasn't coming in till normal time so continental breakfast only available. Very poor standards for a big hotel - the breakfast was sparce - no criosontes, no muffins, no Danish pastries !!!! even Premier Inn has all those. Coffee pots so small had to keep asking for refills. Saying that on the Sunday the cooked breakfast was excellent. When booking the hotel it said "Hairdryers in rooms" - only if you go to reception and pay a £5 deposit. The hotel could be and should be much better

This is the most amazing hotel in Skegness. I took my mum as a late Christmas present and she loved it. Dinner was candlelit with lots to choose from. Close to the arcades and beach. Overall I would defiantly stay here again.
