“Exceptionally disappointing”
Reviewed 30 September 2016 for a stay in September 2016

Firstly, I was dismayed to find the house located in a run down housing estate right next to a school - which due to the time of our arrival, made parking even more tricky than usual. The house is a standard terrace property but far from luxurious - the garden was simply a tiny, enclosed back yard with high surrounding fencing making it feel very claustrophobic. The bedrooms were cramped although the beds were lovely and comfy.
There were many maintenance issues whist we were there - such as the continual flushing ensuite toilet, the bath having a broken plug mechanism ( so you couldnt get the plug out) doors with broken catches, the handle of the lounge door broke off leaving my dogs trapped on the other side, dripping shower heads - and it would have been nice to have instructions for the tv and dishwasher although these had been emailed before our stay - but i didnt think to print them off!
However, the house is geographically well located being close to the quay, station and some very nice restaurants, all just a short walk. There are some lovely places to visit too. The kitchen was very well equipped and the dining room table was lovely ( although there were only 4 chairs) Details such as candles and bathroom toiletries, were a nice touch.
The caretaker, Richard, was exceptionally helpful and really did try and resolve as many issues as he could and the toilet was fixed by the second night.
It was such a shame, as we were celebrating my mums 82nd & step fathers 87th birthday and I had booked this hoping for a luxurious weekend....luckily the weather was gorgeous.

Thank you for taking the time to review the cottage. I would absolutely dispute the fact that the cottage is located in a "run down housing estate". Green Road is a street of Victorian terraced houses, and whilst there is a school at the end of the street, I wouldn't say that detracts from the environment at all. Poole has a lot of mixed property following extensive redevelopment during the 1960's. There are two blocks and a mix of social and sheltered housing in the streets leading to the Quay.
I think the previous 18 reviews I have received on TripAdvisor would dispute the fact you didn't find the cottage fitted to a high standard. The cottage is priced accordingly and I would say that £195 per night for six guests to enjoy a highs standard of accommodation is great value given the price of local budget accommodation in the area. A standard double room at The Hotel du Vin is around £150/£175 a night for two people for one night.
Unfortunately the maintenance issue that occured when you retired for the night, had you called we may have taken interim measures but in any case it was repaired the following day for you. I cannot explain the door handle falling off the lounge door but it was repaired for you. There are printed instructions in the property and I always email information in advance to guests to review. There are also additional chairs to use for the dining room table.
I have never mis-represented the property - guests can review the location on Google Maps and see exactly where they are staying, and the outside area is certainly sufficient to let dogs out. I do not charge dog owners to stay, unlike most properties, and there are plenty of dog walks in the area.

“Absolutely ideal”
Reviewed 19 September 2016 for a stay in August 2016

From the outside the house looks ok but nothing special. However, once inside it is exactly what you want/hoped it would be. The house is extremely well presented, well cared for and genuinely like a home. It is across three floors, with a lovely top floor extension. The bedrooms are all a good size and the family bathroom is lovely. It was very clean too, which is obviously important. The lounge and kitchen were also very nice, with all the mod cons you would like to see. There was plenty to keep the kids entertained too. And even though there were 5 of us, plenty of space. It genuinely was like a home from home.
The location was ideal too, 5 mins walk from shops, 5 mins walk from the quay. Honestly we could not fault anything about the house or the location.

“We will be back”
Reviewed 15 July 2016 for a stay in July 2016

House is lovely. You are greeted by Richard who can not do enough for you,. The house has EVERYTHING you need - so don't worry about packing up your kitchen and the sink because it's all there for you, there is a supermarket within walking distance for all your needs. Plenty on space, lovely bedrooms, bathrooms - I just can't say enough that the house has everything you will need for your stay. Lovely patio area with seating and if the weather is on your side there is even a bbq to be enjoyed. Poole town and quay is no more than a 5minute walk away with dog friends pubs and cafes. The harbour is amazing and a definite for a evening walk.
Sandbanks and the ferry to the neighbouring studland and their beautiful beaches are also a most. All in all a wonderful stay and we will be back next year.
Thank you
