I agree with every word previously written in support of the Bon Sol. It is simply stunning in every respect, from the accommodation and food, to the wonderful staff. The presence of the owners seems to give that added impetus to all that goes on. If there is a downside it would be the resort of Illetas itself, which has very little going for it apart from its
nearness to Palma. The big let down for us was our tour operator - Thomas Cook. The only time we saw any of their staff was on arrival at the airport where they showed us to a taxi. There was no welcome pack, no meeting - no Thomas Cook rep. A contact telephone number was provided in the out of date travel guide folder, but there was nobody from the tour operator to tell us where to find the nearest supermarket or bank. Fortunately the reception desk staff at the Bon Sol had seen it all before and were more than helpful. I think the final nail in the coffin of Thomas Cook came on the day of departure when we were not provided with a departure time from the hotel or any scrap of information about our homeward journey. Even at the airport there was only one rep in evidence behind the check-in desk. Finally - if you have never been to the Bon Sol we srongly recommend that you do so at the earliest opportunity but for goodness sake find a competent tour operator, or better still make your booking direct with the hotel, and get an inexpensive taxi from Palma Airport. Best wishes to the owners and staff at the Hotel Bon Sol.

Room Tip: All of the rooms are best rooms.

spent three nights in this lovely family run hotel and one of the most relaxing trips we have ever enjoyed. This is one of those rare hotels where the guest always comes first. From the second we entered this lovely hotel we felt right at home. The reception staff on seeing my husband was on crutches raced to help us with our cases, organised a parking space in their car park across the road and did everything to make us feel genuinely welcome. The room was beautifully appointed and decorated, which was great, as the weather let us down and we spent a lot of time chilling in its ample confines and on the balcony with stunning sea views. I heard on this trip that one customer has returned for 40 years running and I'm not in the least surprised. The owners Martin, Lorraine and Alexjandre are fully hands and it was obvious they have the very best interests of all guests at heart. They were never, ever intrusive, but would gently enquire if your needs were been met. The food - we went full board - was excellent, with different a la carte menus every night. We ate there on three nights and it was fresh, vibrant, tasty and always hot. The service was top notch and the staff are genuinely warm and attentive. The wine menu was excellent and great value. When the weather allowed we ate in the beachside restaurant and it was a real treat, eating lovely grub while hearing the waves wash up on the small private beach below. I cannot wait to return to the genuine hospitality of Hotel Bon Sol. I have staded in several five star establishments throughout the world and have never before had such a relaxing time in such fine surroundings. Bon Sol continued to surprise us every day. The only thing these wonderfully hospitable people couldn't provide was the weather!! My husband - a man of normally understated sentiment - describe the experience, especially the ambience, as amazing. We can't wait to go back.

we have recently returned from an early spring break at the bon sol. it was our 6th time at this hotel and every time we return it's even better than the last time! the food is fantastic, and as always the staff are so attentive. our first visit was in 1989 and some of the original staff are still there which proves it is a great place to work. on the day of our departure the owners even take the time out to wish you a safe journey home. this hotel is so special in every way. we can't wait to return again next year.

This was a return visit after several years, and the hotel was just as good as we remembered. We had an early morning arrival, and the Reception staff were very welcoming, offering us a drink on the terrace while we waited the ten minutes for our room to be ready.

The room was superb - very spaceous, with a large sitting area with sofa and armchairs, and had plenty of storage in wardrobe and drawers. Also a coffee table which could be adjusted to desk height, useful for the laptop, using the hotel's free wifi service. The balcony had tilt & turn door, which could be left open on the tilt position all day/night if required. The bathroom was a good size, and plenty of hot water in the shower.

The food was superb, and the Half Board upgrade was amazing value. Breakfast was the best hotel buffet I have seen for a long time, and it was pleasing to see the owner and his wife tucking in every morning, along with all the guests. He and his son were also present at Dinner, chatting with all the guests and making sure everything was perfect. The 2 small problems we had were dealt with swiftly and efficiently.

We were lucky with the weather, and would have liked the option of using the beach restaurant, but this does not open until May. However, the hotel pool was heated to "very warm", and is located in a very sheltered corner, with plenty of sun loungers for everyone.

When we left, the owner said we should come back for 2 weeks next time. I think he is right!

I have just returned from a 3 night spring break to the Bon Sol in Illetas. For those who appreciate a small, intimate property with great service and outstanding food this is perfect. Unusual design with extra rooms built when owners could afford it. I would recommend sea view rooms definitely. The view out to the Bay of Palma is unbeatable.
Rooms were spotlessly clean and Spanish Mediterranean decor. Beds were a bit hard but not a real problem. Baths have shower over and the showers are a little old fashioned considering what we have at home these days. Silver service in the dining room at night and it makes a real change to enjoy waiter service these days.
Food choice excellent and they also have a 3 course gourmet menu within the same price as the half board scale.
It is family owned and the owners and their family are always around. A very good sign.
Staff are incredibly helpful and nothing is too much trouble.
Gardens, pool and small cove beach would be wonderful in the summer and the hotel also has some villas down in this area of the property. These are reached through tunnels and lifts. Not suitable for the disabled particularly I would say.
All in all a great, small, friendly well run hotel. Mostly would suit the 50+ age range though.

Room Tip: Sea view a must - Small Charming Hotel.
