The food was very good but you can get similar foods other places on a much more reasonable price ! It’s very expensive and I live in Norway so for a tourist perhaps it’s not worth the money. The service was a bit slow even though it’s only under 10 tables but the place itself is very cozy :)

went for my mothers birthday meal, sat on the long bench against the wall which is rock hard and uncomfortable, it needs a few cushions! ordered a glass of the house white for 98 NOK and it was warm and tasted cheap, had to ask for ice. had the fish pie for main and was so disappointed, it was so dry, i had to take some of my husbands bouillabaise sauce to make the pie less dry. They fill you up on bread as there was bread with all our starters and bread with all our mains. there were no vegetables or salad with it, I had to ask for some. won't be coming back again.

ET VOILA! We enjoyed an absolutely charming and delicious brunch with Rafael and Ingvild at Ostebutikken! We were greeted like old friends by Ingvild the moment we arrived at this amazingly cozy and inviting bistro.. the lovely afternoon getting better with each glass of wine and tantalizing dish.
We started with the Escargots a la Bourguignonne , sweet, juicy and just kissed by garlic. Rich and and oh so very satisfying paired with a cold, crisp and very dry Champagne.
We choose the Roquefort Mussels and the Grilled Goat Cheese Salad for the main course. Each dish beautifully presented and expertly executed by Rafael.
We have enjoyed mussels in many places and cooked them in myriad ways at home but never in a Roquefort sauce. WOW! we now have a new favorite mussel preparation.
The goat cheese salad was just as delicious. Light and crunchy, with the tangy goat cheese grilled to perfection.
A light but rich Rioja made for a perfect pairing with the mussels and goat cheese.
All the ingredients are locally sourced and you could taste the freshness in each dish that we so enjoyed.
We had dessert and it was wonderful but after all the wine I cannot recall exactly what we had. The double expresso's helped us find our way back to our apartment at Barcode.
Ostebutikken is no longer just a place on the map as it now occupies a special place in our hearts, truly our fondest memory of Oslo!
Thank you so much Rafael and Ingvill.. you truly made us want to return to Oslo soon!

Four friends, seated promptly after giving the restaurant an hour's notice on a Friday night in May. Ingvild, the owner, attended to us with warmth and pride. Food and drink both excellent, enjoyed in a neighborly atmosphere.
