This gondola ride takes you up 656 metres above sea level! When we were at the bottom, which seamed fairly calm, we were warned that if it was too windy at the top we would have to walk back down! After a gentle ride up when we got to the top it seemed very windy, so we had a fairly quick stay as we did not fancy walking down. Having said that there were spectacular views, as you would expect. There is a cafe at the top and viewing platforms. It is well worth a visit, as long as it is not too windy! One other point, we walked up a long and winding road up to the bottom station and when we got there we found out that it is on a local bus route. Use that and save your time and legs!

This is the place to see the Midnight Sun, the lift is open until 1am during the time of perpetual daylight, even the cafe stays open. The view are spectacular! Is also a great place to see the Northern Lights at the right time of year.

If you like treking this could be someting for you. We took the gondola lift to the 672m level. Price was 180NOK for adults from 17 years old and 140NOK for children. If you book on Internet you get a 10% discount.
The gondola lift does not open until 13.00 which is a bit sad as it would be much nicer to start the day with this trip.
Well, after arrival we walked towards the TV tower on the next top. Despite end of June there were still spots of snow and a bit wet. First two third it was mainly steep walking then more of climbing.
The distance to the top was only 1100 meter but with an elevation of 307 meter the total hike become quite difficult but still not a major challange.
It took 1 hour to walk up and 30 minutes to walk down.

Avoided the restaurant whick I found the food and drinks quite booring and expensive.

The highlights were the walking/climbing and the great view over the Ofot fjord.

Thank John S
