This was a lovely location and a very strong ambience. This quaint little church was on the walking tour and was how we discovered it. It was an amazing little find and gave great photo opportunities whilst getting to it as well as on location. It would have been lovely to get inside to have a look. Would have been nice if we'd done some homework and knew more about it.

It is a lovely, romanesque church at the border of the old town. It's really worth to take a few steps downstairs and have a look at it from the North, as it looks much more spectacular from there than when seen from the South.

St. Rupert's is the oldest church in Vienna and, quite likely, the oldest building. It is right near the canal and an easy walk from the Judenplatz and the center of old town. Ironally, it bumps up against the plaza with bars and beer joints. It is small, gray stone, and exquisite. Dark, small windows, low ceilings, stunning old stained glass....medieval and simple of its time. Much more meaningful and spiritual than the extravagant cathedrals which, while lovely in their own way, celebrate the power of the Church vs. the essence of spirituality. Make this a must see.

A beautiful building but it was closed!! Does that count as a visit. Its rich in history and i was sad to only be able to read literature and take a few photos.

This is the oldest church in Vienna and worth a look.
Only 3 min. walk from the Judenplatz.
The statue outside is really amazing as is the church itself.
Inside the church is a glass crypt.
