If you want to better understand all the wars that have occurred in Europe this is your place. Huge, beautiful building with sections devoted to various timelines and wars. Incredible artifacts, paintings, etc that give you a great feel for the times. Audio guide in German only. Worth a visit.

I spent 2-3 hours in this museum and saw everything. It had a temporary World War I exhibit (I actually went in 2014, not 2017) that was exceptionally well done with full-scale mock-ups of trenches, etc. When you see everything and consider the breadth, depth and rarity, it's a superb museum, not just a superb military museum. The collection is not as big as the military museum in Brussels, but it's far better preserved and presented. It's certainly better than the military museum in Istanbul, which also is quite good.

This museum is extremely well done and is very interesting. We were lucky to go during slow season, so it wasn't crowded at all. Also we found out that admission is free on Sunday. I would recommend this museum to anyone.

We really enjoyed our walk to this museum from the centre of Vienna. the building itself (the arsenal) is really beautiful and worth a visit in itself.

The exhibits are informative and interesting -we and or three children really enjoyed this museum and learnt a lot. The exhibit on the assassination of Franz Ferdinand was brilliant - the vehicle he was travelling in and his blood stained clothes. Highly recommended for families travelling to Vienna with children.

We started upstairs, as directed, with the long and complex history of Austria’s military engagements represented in art, and by maps, models, uniforms, weapons etc. The highlight however was on the ground floor - the low-lit room displaying the actual car in which the archduke and duchess were shot in 1914, together with Franz Ferninand’s bloodied coat and the sofa on which he died. A compilation of film footage and photo stills taken on the day, and during the anti-Serb riots that followed, played on a loop. Sections dedicated to each year of the Great War, with key events and displays, followed. You can’t take photos, at least in some sections. There’s a good cafeteria-style cafe and a small gift shop on the ground floor.
