I loved this hotel. The staff were super-helpful whenever we needed anything. My high-ceilinged room was clean and very comfortable. The bathroom was a little old-fashioned and the room was maybe a bit too warm - even on a very cold day - but really nothing to spoil the stay. There was a reasonable choice at the breakfast buffet. The wifi works. The location was quiet, but very convenient for walking to various sights. And the Griechenbeisl restaurant, which is fantastic, is almost opposite. What more can you ask?

This hotel is on the flesichmarkt street which is an easy street to find but not the hotel. Thankfully the GPS on the taxi worked properly and we were able to find it. The hotel itself is a pretty good and bang right close to all the major landmarks of the city - the Rathaus, Stephanplatz, etc. The Christmas market on Karlsplatz is just a metro stop away(take a metro line U1-Red line). The hotel room was small but decent and sleep quality was good. Breakfast was plentiful with a lot of options. The biggest plus point like I mentioned is the proximity to everything you would want while visiting this beautiful city.

An excellent location, central but hidden, old fashioned but decent rooms, good breakfast buffet and a great hostess. Value for money is there but a bit pricy for a three star hotel. However, the location is so good that any weaknesses are quickly forgotten.

My wife and I spent 4 nights in Hotel Austria.
It is an older fashioned style hotel as opposed to the chain brands but is in fact fairly typical of Vienna. It is located up a small dead end lane just off the main street and very quiet. We had an inside room 209, a comfort room. Again, traditionally decorated and roomy enough with two chairs and a couch (pull out bed) to relax on. The bed was very comfortable and in line with Austria style is in fact two beds together, with individual duvets. The description of "two beds shoved together" in some reviews isn't quite the picture. The bed equates probably to a super King size. The bathroom offered a shower over bath with a separate WC compartment. We did experience a challenge with the shower overflowing the floor but adapted ok and actually it was nice to relax in the bath. The water pressure is phenomenal. There is a safe in the room and you get the key from reception. Wifi is free, fast and easy to connect.
Staff is efficient and helpful. Reception will book restaurants or concerts for you if required. The breakfast staff is very friendly and constantly in attendance. They will serve you filter coffee with hot milk at your table. The breakfast room is lovely, with table linens, impressions of old Vienna panelled walls, a small fountain and chandeliered ceiling. Breakfast buffet is adequate in quality and with a huge choice including great breads, croissants, cereals, cheeses, cold meats, boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, sausages etc etc. to enable a really substantial meal to set you up for the day. The public areas are quite spacious and there is a desktop and printer available. Take a moment to look down the centre of the spiral staircase serving 4 floors. Typical Vienna building style but makes a pretty artistic photo too. All of the hotel is very clean.
There are numerous restaurants, bars, cafes and shops only steps from the hotel. The hotel is literally 6 minutes easy walk from Stephansplatz and the cathedral, the heart of old Vienna. It is also 5 minutes walk from Morzinplatz where you can arrive and leave using the bus from the airport which runs every 30 minutes and takes around 22 minutes for the journey. The hotel is very good value given its location.
We had a great stay. We did not have any problem at all with some of the perceived negative points mentioned elsewhere. The use of real keys instead of electronic cards, the tiny lift, the soap dispensers in bathroom installed for environmental purposes instead of bathroom products, others may wish to note, but for us just reminded us we were in beautiful Vienna and would not be sitting around a hotel room.
For value, comfort, city location and ease of travel from airport Hotel Austria is ideal. We will go back.
