First a few tips on getting from Airport to Hotel. Budget option which we took - the bus outside airport stops less than 5 minutes walk from this hotel and runs every 30 minutes (print off timetable before travel) and at 12 Euro return pp is a great way to get to the city.
The hotel is situated in a small square with a green park area outside. The old building is typical Viennese style and the road is quiet and pleasant. The reception area is immaculate and comprises of a small bar area on one side and the reception area on the other with a lovely staircase going up the middle. Corridor decor was contempory with lovely vases and pictures on the walls.
Check in was quick and our room whilst a budget one overlooking inner unspectacular courtyard was still well appointed and we had complimentary bottled water, hair dryer, kettle, internet and a flat screen TV. The bed was very comfy and the daylight bulbs gave the impression of the room being lighter than it really was.
Breakfast as mentioned in other reviews was some of the best we've ever had. The breakfast room is on the ground floor and is very nicely set out and the food is served until 11.00 am so no need to dash down if you fancy a lay in. There is lovely yogurt, fresh fruit, cereals, rolls with jams etc, alongside eggs, bacon, toast, cheeses, hams and fresh salmon and you can even partake of a slurp or several of fizzy white wine. Drinks include yogurt drinks, various juices, water and tea and coffe cups can be refilled by the lovely waitressess who serve you and who are only too happy we found to sort out anything for you.
Advice on places to eat were given by the very helpful reception staff. We found that the eaterie directly opposite the hotel on the other side of the park was very nice and the bar round the corner called Tony's was homey and seemed to cater for the locals where we had a cheap good meal of Shnitzel. If we had a complaint at all, it would be that non-smoking in restuarants and cafes does not seemed to have reached Vienna and in most places we were surrounded by cigarette smoke.
Vienna is not a large city and we found that from our hotel in the south outskirts we could cross the city in about 20 minutes on foot so we found this a really good place to stay as it was quiet but near everything.
We would definetely recommend the half day sightseeing tour which includes the city and a guided tour of the Palace. We did this on our first day so we could see the places we wanted to go back to and visit in more detail. We had pre-booked this through Expedia in the UK but the hotel would do it for you.
We will go to Vienna again at another time of year and would definetely stay at this hotel again.
