A friend who comes to Vienna often recommended this place for dinner. Need to book beforehand. We sat outside, it was a very warm night. Our order included grilled seafood platter, salads, a bottle of wine, coffee. The location is Naschmarkt, which is actually a market, and there were street musicians walking through tables playing different instruments, and singing, some of them were really annoying.

This is a surprisingly ambitious restaurant given its location in the Naschmarkt. The broad menu includes a number of interesting selections and the wines are well chosen and gently priced. We stopped in for oysters and a glass of wine a few days ago and decided we wanted to return for dinner.

We sat outside on a warm, lovely evening and enjoyed a delicious dinner, starting with a duo of salmon and tuna tartare for my wife and a large portion of fried anchovies for me (in hindsight we could have just split one appetizer). The anchovies were delicious, and were just one of three interesting fried fish selections on the menu (the others being sardines and silverside).

For the main course we both had whole fish - a small sea bream for my wife and a larger turbot for me. Surprisingly, given the higher cost and elevated reputation of turbot, we both preferred the sea bream, and it was a great value at under 20 euros. These people really know how to cook fish - both were done perfectly. For us they just delivered the whole fish to the table and let us filet it, but we saw servers cleaning the fish for other guests so I assume they will do that for you on request.

We enjoyed an absolutely delicious bottle of Ott Gruner Veltliner with the meal, priced close to US retail. Despite ordering a little too much food this was a wonderful meal and one we would gladly repeat.

Great fish, great service, great wines.
Situated in the busy Naschmarkt along side several other fish restaurants.
This is by far the best.
Very friendly waitress who recommended a great wine.
We ordered fantastic soft shelled crab and salad to share.
Then a whole Turbot to share. It was cooked to perfection, very moist and succulent. Our waitress boned it by the table very expertly. The fish came along side new potatoes and spinach.
A wonderful lunch finished of with very good espresso.

A surprisingly good seafood restaurant in the heart of the Naschmaket. Indoor, outdoor seating. Efficient service, lots of local businessmen, say this one is a hit with locals and tourists alike.

Umar Fisch is embedded in a very nice revitalized area of the traditional market named "Naschmarkt" which was relocated here around 1780. The restaurant is tiny and hosts only 10-15 tables but with sufficient waiters 4-5. You would not expect such a great seafood in Vienna. Excellent and affordable wines are obligate in such environment.
