Trying the original sacher torta was a must do, but the prices were too much for a little piece of cake. On the other hand, it has the same taste wherever you eat it.

Not to be disappointed, we did not expect much what turned out to be well thought! Extremely dry cake with a sticky sweet glaze that pulls the fillings from your teeth! We needed lots of (over)whipped cream to neutralize the stickiness and lots of thin coffee to wash down the dry cake!
Next time we will eat our Sacher cake everywhere but the Sacher or better even, skip it altogether for a fresh from the oven applestrudel at Meierei!

Dear FriedrichKH,

Thank you very much for taking the time to tell us about your visit at the new Sacher Eck Wien.

We appreciate your honest feedback concerning your cake experience. I am very sorry that we were not able to meet your expectations with our Original Sacher-Torte. The Original Sacher-Torte we serve to our valued guests is until today produced in 34 working steps all hand made. Like this, we ensure the high quality standards and produce it identically to the secret recipe invented in 1832 by Franz Sacher.

We do hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back, so that you can enjoy our other cake and tart variations, all handmade in our patisserie.

Best regards,

We came here for dessert after our dinner. There was no wait here but a long line at the café. The tort is a classic of vienna and lives up to the hype. We also got a hot chocolate which was good. Espresso was also good.

One of the oldest (1830s I think) and most iconic coffee shops of Vienna.
The weather was freezing (-3C) with flurries of snow - inside, warm, friendly and rapid service, and a delicious hot chocolate latter I was ready to face the weather again!

We went here to sample the famous Sacher Torte.
The place is nice and the service good but the torte was underwhelming and expensive (we expected the expensive bit!) with two cups of coffee and one piece of torte costing a tad under 20 Euros.
Not worth more than an average rating I'm afraid taking all things into account.
