“Wonderful place, worth the cost!”
Reviewed 18 January 2012

What a wonderful hotel. It is not the cheapest option but it it located in the old city one block from the Spanish riding school and given the location is a good deal. Wifi and the usual extras are all included as well which is so nice. The bathroom is beautiful as is the whole room. Breakfast is extensive and very good. I can't recommend this hotel highly enough!!

Another special occasion and another special hotel! We asked for and got a 'street view room' (I don't like dark rooms and some rooms over look an inner courtyard). To be fair, it's difficult to 'view the street' as the window sills are 24" wide!.
Check in and check out was very efficient and we found all the staff friendly and helpful. Hats off to the barman who greeted us on the last night by remembering our order from 5 nights previously (and no, it wasn't because we'd drunk the place dry!)
The reception is very pleasant and you can take drinks there from the bar (which can get smokey and, they have a humidor so sometimes it's cigar smoke.)
We loved the decor throughout the hotel and our room (the hotel's basic i.e. 'superior') at 30 sq m was very spacious. The bathroom with shower, (we hadn't specifically requested 'a tub') was very well appointed with bottled, branded toiletries. (Moan. Why the stupid glass door into the bathroom? It's not a matter of privacy, but logic! If one person goes to the loo in the middle of the night then the other person is woken up by a spotlight!)
We didn't eat in the hotel so can't comment on the food, but it did look very swish. At 28 euros the breakfast is over-priced (we were offered a reduced price of 20 euros, on check in)
Big moan. I think it's outrageous that the more you pay for a hotel room, the less likely you are to have breakfast included. Anyway, we went to various cafes, but the famous Cafe Central is 2 minutes away and the Altenberg Fruhstuck at 12.50 euros, including coffee, is very substantial.
To sum up: we really liked the hotel: chic and centrally placed in the Innere Stadt and just 2 mins from a U-Bahn station

I visited Vienna for a two-day trip in November and we've been staying at the Herrenhof hotel. I'd qualify this hotel as excellent: friendly, rather efficient service (except for the reception where there is some room for improvement), excellent food and drinks, nice, large rooms (I slept very well) and perfect location: you are at walking distance from many interesting places.

Definitely one of the best hotels in Vienna.

This is a vey nice hotel in the city center. Very good location. Everything within walking distance. Service at reception little slow. No real concierge, little help to find restaurant. Nice room, size just ok, bathroom modern and clean. Wifi free of charge, qutie slow. Breakfast just ok, no fresh omelet.

Dear Guest,
thank you for commenting on our hotel and our services. further to your and other guests comments I am delighted to inform you, that we have appointed two new staff members for our concierge desk in order to improve our performance there. Restaurant reservations in December however are always a challenge for short term requirements. The city is really full during the Xmas season and all restaurants booked.
Please also note, that we do serve all kind of egg specialties for breakfast - they can be ordered a la carte and will be served to your table.
Looking forward to welcoming you very soon back in Vienna
Yours Elisabeth Perwanger
