“Perfectly peaceful in pleasing place”

Our first visit to Gibraltar was spent at this lovely, comfortable apartment at Both Worlds. The apt. itself is undoubtedly one of the best in the development - its location on the third level facing the sea ensures a wide balcony with a view east over the Mediterranean - you can see a beautiful sunrise most days from the main bedroom. The apt is clean and well cared for; not only did we find the owner to be most accommodating but the couple who look after the apt in her absence were friendly, informative and very obliging - like everyone around, most helpful to us before and throughout our stay. The air conditioning in bedroom and sitting room was very much appreciated even in October.

Both Worlds is on the peaceful, quiet side of Gibraltar, which we much prefer as a place to stay rather than in the noisy town centre or marina areas. You should, however, recognise that to go anywhere further than perhaps Catalan Bay (500 - 600m I think) will necessitate using bus or taxi - this includes shopping for self-catering (once you have used the very welcome pack thoughtfully provided!) and if you want to get much in the way of chilled or frozen food you'd be wise to take a coolbag.

It's impossible for us to find fault with this apartment, and we shall hope to return to it in future. As for Both Worlds, the complex was converted from a former life as a hotel. It still has several hotel-type facilities available to residents and guests, including a reception area with a small library, stock of DVDs, etc, games room and small gym. Following past erosion causing severe damage to the beach, this has been completely restored by enclosure with groynes and an undersea wall plus the importation of sand on a large scale.

Our only minor criticisms: As is clearly stated, the thrid level is not directly served by the elevators, so baggage does have to be carried down a couple of flights of steps to get to the apartment; whilst free WiFi is available in the reception area, it would be a lot easier if it could be made available more locally to the apartment; although Gibraltar bus services are excellent, regular and cheap to use, the routes and schedules are confusing to the point of incomprehensibility! Two bus routes are still listed as terminating at Both Worlds, yet for several years the terminus has been relocated to Catalan Bay -- too far to walk with baggage or shopping. There is however (as is stated in the description) a small minibus which does run from right outside Both Worlds reception and goes as far as the Market Place in town, yet this is not the number 4 bus stated and does not have a number at all!

Just go with all that - you will still enjoy it, I guarantee, and you won't find a better provided apartment or more friendly people.

“Beautiful Apartment in a Lovely Quiet Location”
Reviewed 15 February 2013 for a stay in July 2012

This apartment is really lovely. It is furnished well and is very comfortable. I stayed here with my daughter. It is in an 'age over 50's' block of apartments. It is quiet, on the beach and has a wonderful balcony for sitting out both day and night. We loved being able to sit out with a drink and some nibbles when it was getting dark and hearing the sea below us. There was a wonderful friendly lady above our apartment who made us feel very welcome and was full of chat and information for us. The owners of this apartment left plenty of reading on what to do locally. One disadvantage was that, because we were so close to The Rock, we could not pick up mobile phone network until we were halfway into town. There was a bus right outside the apartment that went straight into town and it cost £1.00 each for the day. The journey takes about 15 mins. It is definitely a place to relax and unwind. Everything you need is in this apartment but the only exception is that there is no air conditioning in the second room and it is a pull out sofa/bed. There was a fan but the lady who supplied us with the key needed it and on our second day she removed it from the apartment and so the bedroom was very warm at night. I would have no hesitation in recommending this apartment to friends/family. It is ideal. Mrs. Rodriguez, the owner, was very reliable in her dealings with me i.e. contract, deposit etc. She was a pleasure to deal with and even wrote afterwards to thank us for staying and for looking after the apartment so well. Do not hesitate - book and enjoy.
