We have just returned from a weeks break at the hotel. Having been to Paphos before several times this was the first time we had stayed away from the coastline. We read the Tripadvisor reviews before we left and albeit they are all good we were still a little sceptical. How wrong we were!

We arrived late at the hotel (around 9.30pm) and were swiftly checked in and they had kindly confirmed our requests. As the restaurant was closed and food was not being served anymore, we were told that there was something in the room for us all. They had placed some fruit, water and sandwiches in our room ready for our arrival, great first impression!
The rooms were very clean, it's not often you can say that, but the room we couldn't fault on cleanliness. We had a 1 bedroom Suite as we had 2 children travelling with us. The rooms were big enough for us all but our children (ages 11 & 8) found the sofa bed in the room a little small, I'm not sure any bigger children would be comfortable on these. The balcony overlooked the main pool and was OK, enough for 2-3 people maximum to sit and had a few chairs and a table, they also provided a clothes airer for drying your swim wear.
We went down to breakfast the next morning and the food was great, again something we'd not believed too much based on the Tripadvisor reviews. Albeit it was only breakfast, there was a good choice of everything and all fresh, eggs cooked to order, fresh bread, cereals, fruit etc. You'd have to be very picky to not find anything you didn't like!
Lunch on the first day was effectively the first real test, again this didn't disappoint! The hot food had a decent selection, the salads were amazing (especially the Hummas!) and the desserts were great. The children were in sweet heaven, plus they also serve ice cream if you ask.
Dinners at the hotel are themed each night on a rotating weekly basis, there is a Cypriot night, Italian night, Carvery, Asian, Mexican, Foods from around the world (a mixture of everything!) and a Gourmet evening (another mixture but a little nicer presented). Again, the salads, starters were great and the dessert area changed nightly too with some great cakes and little miniature desserts.
A special mention for one of the Chefs, Dipesh, who went above and beyond a couple of times for us. Our 8 yr old wasn't to fussed about the Asian or Mexican night (who is at 8!) so we asked if there was anything else she could have. He kindly made her a Pizza one night and Pasta the other, off his own back and brought it to our table, excellent service!
The only feedback I would have for the hotel would be as it's still a 'Family Resort' (although you wouldn't think that by some of the looks we got from the older generation!) and may well change next year to an adults only property, they could do with a child friendly area for food on the buffet. we did see a few parents trying to scramble together something for their young ones. Other than that, food is superb!
Drinks are served pretty much all day and are the usual, Keo Lager is the local brew and Estrella is the international brew, both really nice and cold! All spirits are local but do the job when you're on All Inclusive!
There's no entertainment at the hotel either, apparently speaking to some of the regulars (that didn't scowl at the children!) they've tried this before and it didn't work. I can see this as the bar does get busy and everyone does mingle however, there's still not a lot for the children to do, both during the day and the evening so most people with kids resorted to electrical gadgets!
Overall, we found the hotel great, the staff were amazing, Andreas in particular is very attentive and friendly and always there to help the restaurant staff, not many times you see that from a Manager. Maria the restaurant manager is also very good, she remembers your faces and knew quite a few of the regulars too. Don't be scared to ask for different wines too, they have a different wine on offer every night but you can also ask for a different one if it's not to your taste.
I would recommend this hotel for adults mainly, it suits that environment, and more so the older generation, although this could be because we went very early on in the season, it may well be different in the height of summer. If you have children and they can entertain themselves most of the time then absolutely go for it, they'll like it.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms overlooking the pool

Hi Chris,

Thank you for visiting our hotel and for sharing your feedback with us through the Tripadvisor platform. It's always important to know where we stand so we really appreciate any suggestions for our improvement. You are right that our hotel is mostly suited to adults and as such, we recently took the decision to re-launch as an adults-only property from May 2019. We believe that this is better for everyone and it will give us the opportunity to manage guest expectations better. Thanks again and we hope to see you once more at some point in the future.

Kind regards,

The King Jason team

Well, were do I start? We stayed at the King Jason on 7th March for a week, it was our 24th wedding anniversary; we had glorious weather and loved the whole experience.

The coach transfer was only about 20 minutes from the airport, which after a 4.5 hr flight was certainly welcome.

On arrival at the Hotel, we were given the best welcome we have ever had on check in;. Alex on reception offered us a luxury chocolate and then I found a glass of pink fizz in my hand, which I might add went down quite fast, only to be promptly filled again!

There was no hanging around, once we had filled in the mandatory check in form, a staff member took our luggage to our room. We had the one bed suit, so as my hubby snores, it was great to have a separate bedroom; whilst on this subject, I have never slept in such a comfortable bed abroad before, even the pillows were full and soft, no hard flat pillows at this hotel folks!

There was a bottle of pink fizz, a card and a small box with chocolate hearts in on the table (I informed TUI on booking that it was our anniversary), this little touch made us feel special there was also a King Jason beach bag in the room which is to keep; I found this useful when going to the pool / gym.

The restaurant is buffet style, however, this is the best we have ever experienced; great choices at all sittings, soup always amazing and very hot, deserts are divine especially the creme brulee! If you want ice-cream, then just ask for it as it's not on show.

If you need more tea, coffee and milk for your room, either ask housekeeping or we just took what we needed from the restaurant at breakfast, we asked for extra milk and were given a litre! There is a separate cooking station for eggs, omelette, poached, fried; my advice would be to order your preferred choice first, and then get the rest of you breakfast, otherwise you will end up with a plate of cold food.

The gym is great, also the Asteria pool, never tried the sauna though. Tried the elegancia pool which wasn't too cold. The Hydro Contact pool was great, a very cold but fab once in. The sunbeds are the most comfortable , as they have thick luxury toppers! As always, you will see a few days, we made friends with a sweet tortie and a ginger boy; if you don't like cats then if you ignore them, then they won't bother you; they are well looked after by Maria, who, by the way is lovely!

I must just point out that the waiting staff are on point, I had nearly finished eating prawns and a waiter was walking towards me, he noticed and then turned back to fetch a finger bowl, I didn't even have to ask .

The location; this hotel is not on a beach, if you want this then book at their sister hotel in Protares. It's only a 10-15 walk to the many bars and restaurants / harbour, however, their is a shuttle bus which takes you to the shopping Mall and harbour.

If you want bingo, karaoke, or any other entertainment, then you could take a short walk to the bars instead; or you can sit in the lounge, library or bar area ( outside on the deck) on warm nights, have a drink and make new friends

There are lots of archeological sites in this area, I did a few early morning runs to explore, which was fun. Old town is walkable but you can also catch a bus from the harbour.

Andreas, Maria and Vasil, you are special;. Maria and Alex on reception, you are special; the rest of the King Jason staff, you are also special, thank you for a most memorable stay .

This was our second visit to The King Jason and certainly not our last! In fact we have booked a week next year from 27th March. (Can't wait)!
Andreas, Maria and all the staff are a credit to the Louis group of hotels. You would have to go a long way to find hospitality of this standard.
I have kept this review short and sweet because almost all previous reviews have said everything there is to be said. No negative comments whatsoever.
Many thanks to you all for a wonderful week.
Jill and Francis,
Devon.
