Today, under the leadership of Chef Steve Mamo they lead their dynamic team in providing dishes with a modern and classical touch with all flavours staying true to themselves. Salvino's offers an extensive list of Italian wine, featuring rare vintages and other sought after selections which complement Steve's carefully crafted dishes, in addition to an outstanding dessert menu.

Walked past plenty of restaurants and glad we did, Salvino's is quiet and a lovely room. The restaurant was busy on arrival and it had a good feel. Fresh bread, balsamic and olive oil soon followed with a great Gozo cheese salad, peppery and tasty. Chose the two specials, spaghetti and clams and linguini with salmon and asparagus - both fresh and very good. Ended the lunch with an original tiramisu, smooth and a nice way to end a fine meal. Reasonable value for the quality.

A small restaurant a little bit away from the main area and such not too crowded.
I started with the marinated salmon: fantastic
As main I had filet di orate in crosta di patate: perfect
and not to forget the superb Tiramisu!
I think we were the only tourists as there were a lot of locals

Slow, smooth and calm moment. Just in center, under a main place in La Valletta. Some standards Italian dishes in a good mood.

We have today rediscovered the tastes of Italy in what appears to be a family-friendly restaurant. Salvino’s Restaurant in Archbishop Street, Valletta is a gem of a restaurant for its exquisite pasta. Fresh, flavourful, and delightfully simple, their Italian prepared pasta dishes proved dolce vita on our plate. They are made with seasonal, unpretentious ingredients, yet they taste like something you’d get in a Michelin-starred restaurant. It’s strictly a matter of personal taste and I know everyone is going to have their own opinion, but we liked what we ordered. High-quality ingredients – all came together to create what we considered the perfect and most authentic pasta dishes.

For antipasto we shared a plate of Calamari Fritti, an excellent antipasto or seafood course. The chef made sure not to overcook the calamari or else they would have become tough and tasteless. Calamari should be tender and have its own flavour…that it was but not as tender as was expected!

Choosing a pasta shape to suit the nature of your sauce makes a big difference to the finished dish. We have gone from being 2 total Philistines to appreciating the finesse of pasta shapes combined with various types of sauces! There are many and I mean many types of pastas and each has their own partner in sauce. Today, we decided to verify its validity. Our guest ordered a plate of Rigatoni alla Carbonara, my wife preferred a plate of Fettuccine al Salmone Fresco, whilst I settled for Paccheri al Ragu di Spigola. Silence reigned for a while as we savoured our perfectly cooked pasta al dente. If pasta is overcooked it will taste like glue and even the best seasoning will not give flavour to the dish. No wonder pasta is the best known symbol of Italian cuisine.

No dessert and no wine, just 2 bottles of water and 3 coffees and the bill came to €70 tips included. Service was good. Restaurant offers no freebies or free drinks.

Highly recommended restaurant. Had a risotto with funghi porcini which was so good, and the dessert was just excellent. Will visit again!
