We liked this relaxed but top-notch restaurant so much the first time we came that we booked again for two days later.
It’s a mix of Maltese and Italian cuisine, with the freshest of ingredients (a basketful of asparagus just off the ferry from Gozo was delivered while we were there).
On both occasions we started with excellent antipasto - half a dozen delicious vegetable dishes and anchovies. The first time we followed this with beef olives and a lamb shank, the second time sea bass involtini and rosemary risotto. For dessert we had cassata siciliana and a superb pannacotta. In addition various extras were provided at various stages (in a fancier restaurant they’d be called ‘amuse bouches’).
Service was relaxed, friendly and professional.
Highly recommended.

This restaurant had been fully booked on Saturday when we arrived in Valletta, preventing us from trying it then, so we came back during the week to find out how good it could be. It was also fully packed on a weekday.

We shared one starter – zucchini flowers. There were only two flowers stuffed with a cheese filling then fried. With the dish costing 12€, we had expected many more than two flowers (sigh!). It was good, but tasted like a simple fried dough ball with cheese filling.

For main courses we had the 30€ Vitella Milanese on the bone (a veal T-bone steak, breaded and fried medium), and the 12.5€ Fenek Mogli (rabbit). Both the veal and rabbit were outstanding, with the rabbit being the best we ever had. The rabbit was moist and tender and perfectly seasoned. They were accompanied with some roasted potatoes (very delicious!) and roasted mixed vegetables of carrots and zucchini (equally tasty!)

We finished with a yummy Cassata Siciliana – sponge cake moistened with liqueur and layered with ricotta cheese and candied fruits.

We also had a bottle of moscato from Spain which was pleasant to drink.

We could not finish our food and asked our waiter to box the leftovers from the rabbit, veal, and roasted veggies. Later, we found out he only boxed the meats and not the vegetables.

Our dinner including tip cost 95€, the most expensive meal we had in Malta. Despite giving us cheap paper napkin to use, the restaurant added a small cover charge to the bill – the only cover charge we saw during our 1-week stay in Malta.

We booked here due to the many reviews and we were not disappointed! Lovely decor and atmosphere. The starter was exceptional we had the rosemary risotto and asparagus- Amazing! Followed by beef 'olives' and rabbit stew both done to a lovely standard. We followed this with a white chocolate cheesecake and vanilla panacotta. Yum! A superb quality meal and for excellent value. I suggest getting a table away from the door- as this is a trademark restaurant you get lots of people coming in and out asking for a table. Booking is a must for here!

Don't be put off by the relatively plain interior. This place has great service and even greater food! I recommend the antipasti starter for 9 euros which was ample for 2, not one! I had the local rabbit as a main dish which was delicious. I also recommend the Cassatta Siciliano for dessert. Prices were reasonable and this place is popular. People were being turned away, so make sure you make a reservation or you will be unlucky as it only seats 32 people.

This delightful little restaurant is situated on three levels descending deep under the street. Hewn out of solid rock most of the houses in Valetta have underground bunkers where the locals took refuge from the constant Italian bombing in the last war. Today we eat in peace and can only imagine the nightmares they endured. Here our starters of pan fried liver and fresh asparagus were superb followed by amazing risotto and pork belly which was tasty even if a little dry. The cost with a good bottle of Maltese wine and two complimentary amuse bouches was €86.
