We should really keep this place secret but that wouldn't be fair on Dave the owner of this lovely establishment. Beautifully restored building. We had apartment 2 at the front of the building. Had everything we needed. Spotlessly clean and well equipped. Plenty of nice soft white towels. A nice little terrace on the roof for a sundowner. It's situated just a short walk from shops, the bus station and the Valletta ferries and just around the corner from the most amazing little bakery. Dave ordered a taxi for us to collect and take us back to the airport. Nothing was too much trouble. Gave us lots of hints on restaurants and places to visit despite not arriving until 11 pm. On the whole absolutely brilliant.
Perfect ideal location-in quiet side street, all amenities in easy walking distance.
The apartment was first class, the photos do not do it justice. The roof terrace had beautiful views plus sun loungers, tables chairs and huge potted plants and olive trees.
Dave and Lisa(the owners) could not do enough with helpful advice on places to visit and eat. They were on call when ever you needed to ask anything.
We will be back for another visit later in year.
We just left Malta after a week's stay at the lovely D-Townhouse. What a gem in the middle of the calm old town of Sliema an yet only a short walk from the harbour with the ferry to Valletta, bus stops, shops and restaurants. Our suite (containing a living room with a sofa, TV, a kitchen table and a kitchenette built into a cupboard, an adjoining bedroom, separated by a sliding door, with en suite dressing room and bathroom with a walk in shower) was very comfortable, bright, nicely furnished and quiet. Residents also may use a rooftop terrace on the 4th floor with views over Slima down to the harbour and to Valletta. The terrace is equipped with sunbeds, tables and chairs and lovingly decorated with olive trees, geraniums and other flowers - ideal for having breakfast or for a drink under the stars.
Last but not least, D-Townhouse is run by perfect hosts Lisa and David, who are extremely welcoming, always ready to give advice and to help you in any way. Not to forget their son Sebastian, almost three years sold already, who is just adorable, eager to explain to the guests how everything works and on fixing what needs fixing.
In short: when you stay in Malta, don't miss D-Townhouse, it's a sure bet.
this boutique hotel is exceptional on all counts. firstly the position couldn't be better since it is in a beautiful street, just a few minutes walk uphill from the tourist boat and bus stops. (sliema is actually a good place to stay for this reason, as if you are on valletta you must come over to start the boat cruises)
secondly, the house itself has been done up immaculately, it is all new and modern, spacious and airy, with a beautiful terrace on the roof with 360degree views! I was lucky enough to have room 7 which has an easterly facing balcony so I could have breakfast in the sun but the other room guests may do that on the roof. my room was huge and very comfortable...in the bathroom a modern very powerful shower (and complimentary toilettries) and decent hairdryer, very large bedroom and separate seating and dining areas. there was a lot of storage space and many electrical sockets, plus an adapter plug for the english sockets. the kitchenette was very well equiped with coffee machine kettle and toaster, microwave and fridge...and I had several supplies on arrival for my use which was very welcome. the owners are a very lovely helpful couple, who can give you all the info you need for finding restaurants or booking taxis etc, and are always contactable if they are not on site. I loved this place! the maid didn't come in every day but for me that was good, and if you want maid service everyday it is an option. Fab find!! great wifi (free of charge)
Great studio apartment in well converted Maltese house. Very clean and modern, spacious and tastefully furnished and well presented. Quiet smooth lift too was very useful for us oldies after a day walking and climbing the hills of Valetta/Sliema.
We had room 5 on 2nd floor at rear so very quiet. The room above us (7?) had a balcony but there is a very nice communal roof terrace for the 7 apartments too.
For us a throw for the sofa and an additional small heater would have been good as we did have a few exceptionally cold days during our stay but I'm sure if we had asked Dave and Lisa would have supplied them in a flash. There is reversible air con which would normally be fine I'm sure.
They are very kind, helpful hosts for whom nothing is too much trouble. Lisa spent quite a bit of time with us when we arrived showing us the apartment and giving us advice on local shops, getting about etc. She gave us her mobile no in case we needed any help and they let us know when something was happening like the St Paul's festival.
We never did find the local bakery sadly but Scotts and Tower supermarkets are both 5 mins walk and have a good choice of lovely Maltese bread and everything you need.
Location is excellent for visiting Valletta and buses around island. We had a hire car but the roads are not in great condition on the island (although they are being improved) and on street parking (even in Feb!) was a big problem. If we return we wouldn't bother to hire as the buses are regular as are the ferries and boat trips to Gozo etc. These are all available at the end of the street!
I would recommend this property without hesitation.
