Amazing. I was bored with the conference hotel so I stayed downtown in this charming and sweet typical Icelandic house, one of the Forsæla apartmenthouses, and rented a bike to get to and from the conference. I am so glad I did. Returning home to Grettisgata 33 each day made me laugh out loud, it was so cute and so typical of the older Icelandic accommodation in Reykjavík. It was clean and perfectly situated for Reykjavík nightlife, but peaceful too as it is on a quiet residential street. It’s not spacious, but the size really is part of its historic charm. There’s a photo hanging in the living room of the original 12 person family who built the house, and a write-up of their history, but in my heart I know it is my home in Reykjavík!
