This is a perfect short term apartment arrangement. My husband and daughters ages 16 and 12 were greeted by our host with warmth despite our arrival at 1am. We stayed in the clean, cozy cottage with its well supplied kitchenette. The location was perfect -- close to Hallgrimskirkja, the supermarket and restaurants, but we were never bothered by noise from the busier streets. Our host was very helpful with our excursion arrangements to the Blue Lagoon and the Golden Circle.

We have enjoyed staying in Forsaela apartment house twice over the Christmas Holidays and it’s been a truly wonderful experience. Making our meals if we ever were in need of anything whether a little icing sugar or an electric mixer Hlin, the hostess, was always there to sort things out. Nothing was ever too much trouble and her husband, Sigi, even put up a little Christmas tree in our apartment! Since we have relatives in Iceland we like having a few people over for visits and this is just the perfect place.
The apartments are really well equipped and extremely warm and cozy. Outside the garden and windowsills have lovely Christmas lights and with the heating under the pavement there is never any danger of slipping even on cold and frosty nights. The location is just perfect so close to the city centre and yet so peaceful and quiet.
We feel privileged to have stayed in this beautiful apartment house so close to the owners who are always there with a nice smile and keen interest in making your stay as enjoyable as possible. They are very knowledgeable about everything both what do see and do in Reykjavik and out in the countryside. Staying with them gives the guests both a unique opportunity to have personal advice on how to spend their holidays and experience hospitality that’s hard to beat. We already look forward to our next Christmas in Iceland.

My partner Ali and I had a number of spectacular experiences in Iceland, from exploring the volcanoes of Vestmannaeyjar to hiking on Mýrdalsjökull - we had an awesome time. The last three nights of our journey, however, afforded us an opportunity to relax and enjoy the city of Reykjavik from the comfortably appointed and perfectly located Forsaela Guesthouse. Lest you think this review is based on location, location, location, however, I'm leaving out the absolute best part about the experience - our host Hlin! To say that Hlin went above and beyond to make us feel at home is an understatement. Great local advice, delightful conversation and spectacular breakfasts await you!

We look forward to visiting Reykjavik again soon. First on the list - booking our accommodations with Hlin. Thanks for making our trip such a success.

Forsaela Guesthouse is a lovely spot a block from the main shopping street in Reykjavik. The owners are delightful and very helpful with planning, tips on getting around, assisting with reservations, etc. We stayed in the "Little House" and felt so welcome. We enjoyed easy access to shopping, sight seeing and just getting around the city without having to go through a hotel lobby, ride the elevator, and then walk down long halls. The charming neighborhood of 100 year old houses makes you feel like an Icelander. The kitchen is well equipped and since we found food in Iceland to be rather expensive light cooking was a great way to save money. We loved this place! Cozy, inviting, and warm.

Forsaela Guesthouse
This lovely guesthouse is so cozy and delightful. One block from the main shopping street, close to the BSI terminal and city bus lines. The guesthouse gives you the feeling that you are an Icelander. We enjoyed having the street and town so accessible to us, unlike a hotel where you need to go through lobbies, use elevators, etc. The guesthouse made short trips to the store or for walks very easy. The guesthouse appears small from the outside, but once you get inside you will find it very well appointed with plenty of room. Five of us (four adults, one teenager) stayed in the "Little House" and loved every minute of it. Food in Iceland can be pretty pricy so using the kitchen in the guesthouse is a great way to save some money. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking and eating. One of the most memorable meals I had in Iceland was prepared in the "Little House". The grocery store and bakeries; all shopping in fact, are within blocks of the Forsaela Guesthouse.
The owners are very willing to help with planning and tips about getting around the city and beyond. I could go on and on about this little gem, staying at the Forsaela Guesthouse was a memorable part of our stay in Iceland.
