When in down town Reykjavik, do not pass up the opportunity to visit one of the best bars and restaurants in Reykjavik. The owner and staff are welcoming and friendly and immediately make you feel at home. The food ( we had Fish And Chips and lamb shank, both outstanding). As beer aficionados, we loved the introduction of Einstock beers, especially Wee Heavy, a particularly tasty brew.
Everything in Iceland (by American standards) is expensive, but Frederiksen is one of the best values you will find. Don't miss their happy hour and don't miss their wonderful food. And please give our regards to Helga, Tomas, and the rest of the wonderful Frederiksen staff.

On our recent trip to Reykjavik, we visited this ale house on two occasions. It is located very conveniently near the old harbour and we stopped by for a hot chocolate to warm up after a boat trip. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere pleasant. We returned another night for dinner where we both had fish and chips. The food was really tasty and reasonably priced.

Located just off the town square, they offer good food in a friendly corner bar atmosphere. Service was good and food was served quickly.

We were given this recommendation from a woman in a tiny little shop! This was the first restaurant we visited while traveling in Iceland and probably one of the best pubs we've been in!

We loved the staff, the local beer and the food!!

We ordered the chicken wings to start (one of our favorite starters at a pub.... Plus it lets us know if we will like the other menu items). We then split the beer battered fish and chips (both plenty for us for a large lunch/mid-afternoon snack). OMG ~ perfectly crisp, seasoned and delicious. The chips were potato wedges and we loved the seasoned salt they served on the side! This place was amazing and we will recommend it to everyone traveling to Reykjavik! We absolutely LOVED the staff as well!

Amazing, simply put!!!

This was our best pub experience in Reykjavik. We liked it so much we went back 3 times. Hamburger, chicken sandwich, fish & chips were all very good. And we found our favorite beer of the trip, Eistok Wee Heavy. Service was good and it wasn't a dive like some of the bars in that area.

If you are looking for moderately priced food with good beer, I highly recommend this pub.
