We booked a room for 3 people and we're very impressed with the price. The location was perfect, although not right in town it was a quick walk and all tours picked up from the hotel. We were surprised to find we had a living room area as well as the bedroom up the stairs and loved the communal breakfast and tea/coffee area. The free coffe/tea was great, as was the cake! Would highly recommend this hotel. The only issue we had was with the shower curtain, but this was very minor issue.

Great wee hotel if you're looking for a cheap stay in Reykjavik. Rooms were fine and staff were excellent. Breakfast every morning was excellent. Nightlife in Reykjavik is very good and the staff had no issues with us coming back to the hotel in the early hours of the morning. However, it is a 15min walk to the centre of Downtown Reykjavik. Overall, good stay at nice hotel - would book again.

I stayed in this hotel while visiting Reykjavik. I came to this hotel based on the relatively lower room rates and the good reviews I read about it, and I have to say that the reviews were honest - this is a not-so-big hotel, with a very warm feeling inside. The staff were very nice and helping. Every time we had a question or needed something, they gave a good help. They even offered help when we waited to our tour guide to come to the hotel, so they call the tour agency and asked about it for us. Every day they serve a basic, but good, breakfast that we enjoyed, and every afternoon and evening they serve hot drinks and a cake at the dinning room. This is a big plus, especially when you come back to the hotel after a long day. On my last day, because I left very early to the airport, before the breakfast, one of the staff members even suggested to make me a sandwich - which was great. I really liked the staff!
The rooms were basic - don't expect the Hilton. But everything we needed, we had. One thing that I missed is a water-cooker to make tea in the room. But it was okay, as we could get the tea from the dinning room and bring it to our room. The bathroom was clean and good.
The location of the hotel is also good - it is not in the center of the city, but in a walking distance from there (~10-15 min walking), so it is a quite neighborhood. It is also very close to several supermarkets and restaurants.

Like most others I agree that this hotel is basic but definitely provides all that you need while being comfortable and clean. The staff was very friendly and the price of the room includes breakfast which is a standard hotel buffet breakfast of cheese, meats, bread, yogurt, coffee, juice, etc...

Luckily we had rented a car because it was really cold and it would not have been possible to walk into town. If it was a little warmer or less windy we would have gladly walked to the city center which is about 20 minutes from the hotel.

We have just arrived back from Hotel Orkin from a three night stay. The rooms are basic but very clean and comfortable beds. There is a TV in the room, towels and hair dryer but no tea making facilities in the room. The bathrooms are compact and yes there is the smell from the water but after a few days you get used to it, so just be prepared for it.
The hotel staff are lovely and will help you with anything you need. Breakfast has a selection of breads/toast, boiled eggs, cheese, cold meats, cereal and yoghurt. There are hot drinks all day and a yummy cake every afternoon, but no facilities to have lunch or dinner.
If you take supplies e.g. Cuppa soups etc to save some money you have access to hot water and cups all day in the eating area.
There are lots of restaurants close by once you get your bearings and the voucher you are given for the restaurant round the corner is lovely and well worth a visit. Also other vouchers on or near the reception desk that we missed as we were always in a rush.
This hotel doesn't claim to be anything other than it says. If you are looking for a clean and comfortable place to lay your head on your visit to this wonderful country then this is the place. I only gave it 3 stars due to the limited facilities but do not let this put you off.

Room Tip: Better views are at the back far right, however built up area so no excellent views.
