Staff and location made this a great stay

The staff and location were exceptional - that view of Hallgrímskirkja from my 3rd floor room was perfect!

I don’t need much covering when I sleep but I do want something. The only thing available was a heavy comforter that would have made me too hot to sleep. I’ve notice in Iceland, as well as other countries in Europe, that beds aren’t often made up with top sheets, so maybe this is a custom in the US that doesn’t apply elsewhere, but it would have nice to have light sheet available. Similarly, I like to have air movement in my room, so a small fan would have been nice.

The above are more minor frustrations than major complaints. Overall this is a very nice, quaint hotel.

Room tip: Take note that this hotel has no elevator.

We appreciate your comments regarding the bedding and your preference for a lighter sheet and a fan. Our beds (as most hotels in Iceland) are indeed set up with a standard heavy comforter, and we currently do not offer alternative bedding options. While this may differ from your expectations, we hope it did not detract significantly from your overall experience.

Great 3 night stay

Great hospitality, hreat location. Good breakfast, packed breakfast for us on the last day - as we had an early flight (nice touch) . Great bar/hotel staff who accommodated small but meaningful requests. Would stay again, central location - beds and room are small by US standards and take getting used too.

Disappointing

Disappointing hotel.The price-quality ratio was not good.
We were "dropped" in the basement. A very dark, tiny room that smelled like moist. Little ventilation was possible., which was a problem as the (also tiny) bathroom was a bit smelly too. The small window was located on the footpath where all the tourists passed. (Noisy)
Breakfast was ok. Staff was friendly.

Great location and lovely accommodations

Great location right across from the cathedral. Lots of great coffee shops and restaurants nearby. Very central to everything. Hotel is very quaint inside and out. We got the breakfast at booking and it was only $10 for two each day. Nice continental breakfast with nice assortment of various foods. Coffee,tea and hot chocolate was available in the bar area all day. The room was clean and you had the option to have it cleaned daily with new towels. There was a tv but to be honest we didn’t really use it much. It’s an older building so no elevator but we were helped with our bags by hotel staff. The room was actually bigger than I thought. It was just my sister and I so it was fine. Beds were comfortable and the room darkening drapes did a good job keeping out the sunlight so we got plenty of rest. The staff were accommodating and gracious. If you book a tour most of the well used tourist buses stop right across the street. At bus #8 stop. There is free parking across the street in the church parking lot but there is adequate off street parking as well for a nominal fee.I would highly recommend this hotel. It’s safe, clean and in an excellent location.

Superb location for a nice hotel

The hotel is located across the church and in the center of everything, right near a bus stop which is a pickup location for many tours.
The rooms are clean but very small and also a bit dark.
The breakfast is very nice and worth booking.
The staff are very nice and helpful.
Altogether I would definitely recommend staying here if you don’t mind slightly cramped quarters.
