Disappointing

Great location and helpful staff. Unfortunately, that couldn't make up for the incredibly uncomfortable beds. (There was zero padding on the mattress and you could feel the individual springs all night.) The lobby was well kept and up to date, but the actual room was definitely worn and in need of some upkeep--cracked floors, chipped sink, grimy/dusty outlets. The room was also tiny making it difficult to get ready without stepping all over each other. For the cost, I'm sure there were more comfortable and spacious options.

Saw the northern lights from our balcony overlooking the city

What a hidden gem! Loved our stay in this cute top floor room with sunlights and a balcony! We saw the northern lights from our balcony — very faint but still visible. Also the balcony was a great place to store our Icelandic beer and cheese we picked up along the way during our adventure. Convenient and walkable, great breakfast buffet, coffee/tea available all day, and a place to refill your water bottles with that delicious Icelandic water!

The hotel clearly invests in maintaining the property — construction workers were there for some routine maintenance during our stay. Our room was very comfortable and cozy during the middle of a snow storm with gale force winds. You could barely hear the wind inside and there were no drafts from the windows, skylights, or the balcony door. Amazing property.

No elevator, so you burn a few additional calories by taking the stairs :) Eat all the pastries you want! And drink all the beer!

Bonus: It’s VERY EASY to find your way back home. Just walk up any hill towards Hallgrimskirkja (tallest building around!) and the hotel is across the street.

Fantastic location

Charming family run hotel opposite the fantastically imposing church. Facilities are clean and modern and booking direct gets you a complimentary drink from the bar. Package includes breakfast with a good choice of fare. Location is 400 metres from the Main Street with a wide choice of bars and eateries. If you are coming to downtown Reykjavik and want a decent standard hotel without breaking the bank I would recommend

Room tip: No parking but no an issue for us. Bus Stop No 8 is directly outside the main hotel entrance

The Perfect Base

A brilliant stay. All of the staff were so welcoming and helpful and they even gave me a free upgrade with a view of the church. The hotel is the perfect base for travelling Iceland and is in a great location only a 6 minute walk from the centre and right next to a key pick up stop for tours. Would highly recommend a stay here.

Hotel Leifur Eiriksson - We Love You !!

I recently stayed at Hotel Leifur Eiriksson and had an absolutely wonderful experience. The hotel is located in the heart of Reykjavik, making it the perfect place to stay if you’re looking to explore the city. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout my stay, especially Mariko who helped us upon arrival and dealth with our endless questions, Thorir who was like our local guide, and Maria who made sure we were got on our plane by being incredible. They went above and beyond to ensure that I had everything I needed and that my stay was as comfortable as possible. The rooms were clean and cozy, and the breakfast was delicious. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable and convenient place to stay in Reykjavik.

Thank you, Mariko, Thorir, and Maria, for making my stay so memorable and especially Maria, we will never forget how you were with us the whole time during the problem we faced with the bus to the airport and how you arranged fro an alternative mode of transport and helped us get to our flight in time. THANK YOU, MARIA!!
