Hôtel Von has a wonderful location in Reykjavik downtown city and the hotels boutique accommodation and presentation made for very comfortable and pleasant stay. We had lovely breakfast at the hotel one morning before heading off on early morning tour - coffee, croissants, avo on toast etc

Hotel Von was one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in. The slick modern Scandinavian vibe of the hotel made us feel right at home. When we arrived, they had given us a free room upgrade, putting us in the junior suite that gave us the perfect view of the coast line and mountains.

The best part about this hotel is it’s location, being positioned within 10 minutes of all tourist attractions and bus stops, making it handy for day tours.

Anyone who visits Reykjavik should stay here.

Centrally located on Laugavegur, one of the main streets in Reykjavík, this hotel is in an ideal location as it is surrounded by shops, restaurants, bakeries and within walking distance of Hallgrimskirja, rainbow street, and Harpa. There’s even a market called Bonus next door which made getting bottled water and snacks super convenient.

We stayed here twice, 11/28 for 3 nights and 12/4 for 1 night. On 11/28, we arrived around 0630, well before the check-in time of 1500. Martina at the front desk was very warm and welcoming. She allowed us to check in immediately since they had a room available, and even upgraded our room. I was relieved they have an elevator since it wasn’t clear from the reviews. We were at the back of the hotel but the room was great, sporting a full sized tub/shower combo, a bench that spanned half the depth of the room, and 2 tvs. It was quiet and seemed to be the only room at the back of the building. View was of the mountains and water. Martina was great with answering our questions and providing helpful tips and suggestions that made us feel genuinely cared for.

12/4 we checked in and were again given an upgraded room. It was smaller, 1 tv, no bathtub, but still perfectly adequate for us. I loved the clean lines of the Scandinavian design. The room was at the front of the hotel with a view of Laugavegur and Hallgrimskirja. We checked out at 1200 and were able to store our luggage at the front desk and explore more of the city before our pick up at 1330.

Laugavegur is a mostly pedestrian street and larger buses aren’t allowed. Flybus would have been the most economical transfer from airport, but would have required 2 bus rides with drop off 2 blocks away at bus stop 9. I wasn’t willing to drag luggage that far and decided to book private transfer which was great as drop off/pick up was right in front of the hotel. Tour pick up is at Bus stop 9, but wasn’t an issue for us to walk. We want to revisit Iceland next year and hope return to this hotel again.

Room tip: We were given early check-in and an upgraded room twice, so it’s worth inquiring about with the front desk.

Hotel is an excellent location in the center of the city, easy to walk to restaurants and shops. The rooms are tiny but have everything you need. The bed was comfortable and everything was modern & clean. Would stay again!

Excellent location in the middle of the main pedestrian zone/street, which is full of restaurants, bars, coffee shops and tourist stores. Easy walking distance to most/all downtown attractions including the Hallgrimskirkja Church, Rainbow St., Harpan (opera/concert hall), the Art Museum and bus station to the Blue Lagoon.

Rooms are nicely-designed, but in minimalistic style.

TIP: Right next to the hotel is a supermarket, which came in handy to buy some chocolate bars as gifts.

Room tip: You can book cabs to the airport with the front desk the night before for an early flight - they ensured they showed up on time.

Check in was quick and easy and the staff were very friendly and went out of their way to help us.
We booked a standard double room and had plenty of space.
The bathroom was a good size with everything you needed including Toiletries - shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. The water pressure was fantastic and the shower was huge. Loved the sockets built into the bedframe for easy charging. We were on the sixth floor at the back of the building which was lovely and quiet with a very nice view of the mountain. The TV was a great size and had several English channels. The location was great, very safe area on the Main Street.
The only negatives were the mattress was abit hard for me, very little wardrobe space and the shower head is abit too far away from the wall and causes the water to go everywhere so the bathroom floor got very wet.
