We had a great tour in a minibus with Gateway with 18 other people. They picked us up at the cruise terminal at 10 a.m. for a 9+ hour tour. He took us on the Golden Circle tour but added a tour back through downtown which was a special treat. Our driver and tour guide was Gummi, who had grown up in Iceland and very knowledgable about everything Iceland. I felt that we a stellar tour. The Circle tour encompasses beautiful waterfalls, striking and stark landscapes, points where the continents split, lava fields and natural steam vent landscapes. Our tour included the Secret Lagoon, which felt more authentic than maybe the famous blue lagoon and it was included in the price. The lagoon has an interesting past and is located next to several natural steam vents. There was only one minor negative about the tour and that was the lunch stop—where every other tour group stopped. It did have an expansive gift shop, though. It was crowded and food was expensive, I would have preferred to have stopped at a smaller place because we were such a small group. The Gateway tour price was very competitive and the small group was fun to spend a day with. With only 20 people, getting off and on the bus was was quick and easy. I wished we had been able to take another tour with Gateway but the tour we would have had time for the next day, was not available on Sundays. I left Reykjavik feeling like we had been shown the best of the area. I also would like to say that all communication with Gateway, prior to our arrival, was excellent.
