Nice place to stay

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 3 weeks ago
Overall, the Residence House is a good place to stay. My room was nice and the location was excellent. There is plenty of public parking available for a reasonable fee if you have a rental car. Depending on what building you stay in, there is a garage near by you can pay to park. You just have to watch for the hours of operation if you use the garage because it does close during the overnight hours. The location of the hotel is within walking distance to quite a bit in town. My room was clean and the staff I interacted with were all nice. I chose the breakfast option and found it to be a good choice. The food selection was nice and everything was fresh each day. If I had to list a con of the hotel it would be their walls are very thin. It’s the only thing stopping me from giving 5 stars. We had a family with children in the neighboring room and the entire family was very loud and we could hear everything in our room. The parents would leave the children alone each night and go out which the children would be extra loud while the parents were gone and they didn’t come back until late night/early morning hours. They checked out a day before us so the last night the noise levels were fine. I’d recommend bringing noise canceling headphones or a good set of ear plugs. Otherwise, this is a nice selection for a place to stay.

Room Tip: If you go during summer months bring eye covers. A good set of ear plugs or noise canceling...

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful throughout the entire stay! The room was very spacious and comfortable! It was nice to have a full kitchen in the room.

The location was within walking distance to the everywhere in downtown. And there are a lot of shops, restaurants, club, and stores very close to the hotel.

Room tip: The buildings are separate, but within a few blocks of the main office. The office staff is 24/7 and extremely friendly and helpful.

From the start, the hotel’s customer service was quick to reply to questions, helpful and informative.

If I could, I would give the hotel 6 stars for customer service alone. The day before checkout, I had an accident and ended up I. The Emergency Room. We needed to cut our trip short but weren’t sure if we could fly out the following day or the day after. The hotel gave us a late checkout (1pm) and we could have added an additional nights stay in the same room if we’d needed it.

The clerk when we dropped off our luggage to store until check I. Was friendly and gave us a great recommendation for breakfast (The Grey Cat).

The check in location is separate from all the accommodations, so we did have to walk a few blocks after check in with all of our luggage. But the clerk at the desk gave excellent t directions and really good advice about parking (park closer to the bay for P3 to save $$$!)

We booked the 2 Bed/2 Bath apartment for 5 nights for two couples. The beds were comfortable, the living area was spacious. Everything was clean.

The showers in both bathrooms did not have any curtain or door so when showering expect everything in front of the shower to get wet. In the en suite bathroom, the shower opens to the sink, so anything on or near the sink gets wet. The en suite bathroom has a window, and the sill serves as a shelf for personal toiletries when showering. The other bathroom does not have any shelving in the shower for personal toiletries.

The “breakfast” was enough food for four guests to eat at least two meals per day. We supplemented a little with trips to the grocery store for coffee creamer, sodas and snacks, but everything else (skyr, bread, cheese, fruit, etc.) was in the basket each day. And the fresh baked bread every morning was divine!

We are already planning g another trip to Iceland and will certainly book with this hotel again.

Room tip: Accommodations are in a separate building from check in. Expect to walk several blocks after check in.

Outstanding unique hotel in an excellent location for walking to attractions, restaurants, grocery stores and the harbor. Our room was well-equipped and very clean and the large, modern bathroom was supplied with high-end products. We loved having a mini-kitchen complete with everything we needed for dining in. Milk and juice were in the frig and with cereal, tea and coffee also supplied, just a quick walk to Bonus and we were set for breakfast and food, drinks and snacks for touring. This can save you a lot of money in Iceland. The staff was very helpful and they had secure storage for luggage. The Residence Hotel was excellent in every aspect and we definitely recommend it when staying in Reykjavik.

Our family of six stayed two days in Reykjavik at the Reykjavik Residence Hotel and it was perfect for us. We were in two rooms adjacent to each other. the rooms were large, clean, and well equipped. The kitchenette was a nice bonus, and we loved the fresh bread delivered every morning. The buildings are well situated in the city, close to everything you would want to see. We downloaded the Parka App and parked on the street right in front of our building.

Room tip: Get the Parka app and park on the street. It's very easy to use and convenient.

As mentioned in other reviews it was a little confusing at first that there are several different buildings. Once we got checked in we were very happy with our accommodation. There is a parking garage about a block away from the building we were in (along with lots of street parking but I couldn't be bothered to feed the meter once a day for the days we didn't need the car). There is lots to do and some great restaurants walking distance from any of the apartments. The beds were very comfy, the blackout curtains did a good job (which really matters in summer), and we very much enjoyed the breakfast service (particularly the bread service). If I plan another trip to Iceland I will come back here again!
