Loved our stay!

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 25 Apr 2024
My partner and I stayed in a superior studio in the Embassy Building for a week in April. Given all the positive reviews we had pretty high expectations -- these were all met and more so. It was ideal for us. Clean Nordic vibe -- plenty of room for 2 people -- extremely comfortable beds -- the kitchenette, while simple and somewhat basic, had everything needed to cook proper meals (and we did). We opted out of the breakfast basket as we actually enjoy food shopping in other countries and the helpful staff in reception gave us tips on where to go (especially for that delicious bread) -- everything within easy walking distance, although a short bus ride away is a good mall with a large, higher-end supermarket we investigated as well. We arrived early and they found a room ready for us, which was much appreciated. Staff there always very helpful and friendly. Extra pluses: endless supply of tea, coffee, sugar, milk and juice provided. And for every day you opt out of the housekeeping service, you get a free drink coupon which can be used either in hotel reception or a delightful wine bar round the corner! We loved it and will certainly stay here again next time we visit Reykjavik.

I'm so happy I picked this hotel for our 5 night stay. The beds were comfortable and the room was relatively quiet which was a surprise since it is so close to the road. The kitchenette was stocked full of everything we needed and we saved money by cooking a few meals in the room. It was nice to have a microwave to heat up leftovers too. We purchased the breakfast option and it was SO much food! We couldn't possibly have eaten all of it but did our best. The bread delivery each morning was a special treat too. The location was convenient to walk to bus stops, shopping, and the harbor. We were able to store our luggage in the main building upon arrival and sit in the lobby to add layers of clothing and decide how to spend our jet-lagged day in the city while waiting for our room. The receptionist gave us great tips on where to go and was very welcoming. Our room felt very safe for us as a mom and teenage daughter traveling together. The building and room smell bad because of the hot water and the air freshener fragrance sticks in the room were too strong for me so housekeeping kindly took that away. We got used to the smell but I'd recommend bringing a perfume or your own essential oil if you're sensitive to smells.

Room tip: If your tap water tastes bad turn the faucet all the way to cold and let it run then it will be delicious. Check dishes for cleanliness.

Fantastic hotel. The reception team was amazing. Very helpful and knowledgeable and always happy to advise. The room was very clean and nicely decorated. It was like been in your own little apartment. All we needed was there. The location is great also

Room tip: Come well prepared for the wind, even in April!

I had an amazing experience at the Reykjavik Residence inn it was filled with all the comforts of home, including microwave toaster iron blow dryer etc. Toiletry products were premium quality. The bedding was very comfortable, with down comforters.
Each morning they supplied a Continental breakfast with boiled eggs decorated with the 😀 meat and cheese slices with bread, fruits, jams, and butter and vegetables and fresh bread was delivered every day at 8 AM to the door.
The areas were impeccably maintained The staff was helpful and kind.
There was ample parking on the street or nearby lots for minimal fee
It’s in close proximity the downtown area and also the coast
I would highly recommend !!

This hotel was very welcoming. We arrived very early to Reykjavik, and the hotel happily took our luggage until we could check in later in the afternoon. We also ate our breakfast in the lobby as we got our bearings. When we did get our room, it was perfect for us. We used the kitchen and really enjoyed the breakfast basket and fresh loaf of bread. Loved the hot chocolate and coffee in the room. Also enjoyed the wine cafe that was right outside our room. We spent two happy hours there and got a free drink for opting out of cleaning the room.

We just got back from a 5 night stay in the Printing Press Building. We arrived late in the evening to a very clean apartment with a modern, nordic vibe. The generous breakfast basket was awaiting us in the fridge, the kitchenette was well appointed and we were starving. So we dove into the basket, I made midnight pasta (teen parents travel with spaghetti, right?) and we immediately made ourselves at home. The family suite was perfect for the 4 of us, giving us all space to relax and rest comfortably. We awoke to a stunning harbor view, fresh bread (Sandholt Bakery) and a true appreciation for the wide array of hot beverages provided. Perfectly situated for exploring Reykjavik and as a base for excursions, there is easy access to highways and the area itself is super walkable. Hverfisgata has a handful of restaurants and a quick mart. Right around the corner is Laugavegur and access to tons of restaurants, shops, bars, live music and groceries. Walk down to the harbor and catch the sunset, don't miss Valdi's ice cream and take a pic on Rainbow Street at night! Oh, and if you hit a geothermal spa, don't forget to ask the wonderful guest services for extra towels before you go!
