Description: Baejarins beztu pylsur (English: The best hot dog in town) often shortened to simply "Baejarins beztu", is a popular hot dog stand in central Reykjavik, Iceland. In August 2006, the British newspaper The Guardian selected Baejarins beztu as the best hot dog stand in Europe. The majority of Icelanders have eaten at Baejarins beztu. It's downtown near the harbor and has been open since 1937. Foreign visitors are often brought to the stand to introduce them to the hot dogs there, which are often called "the Icelandic national food." Among famous people who have eaten at Baejarins beztu are Bill Clinton, former president of the United States, and James Hetfield, vocalist of the popular heavy metal band Metallica. A hot dog condiments include ketchup, sweet mustard, fried onion, raw onion and remoladi, a mayonnaise-based sauce with sweet relish. Hot dogs are often ordered with "the works," i.E., All condiments, or in Icelandic "eina med ollu".

I had two hot dogs from this stand during my short Iceland visit. Both times I ordered my hot dogs with all the condiments except the mustard. I'm not a fan of mustard in general. I really enjoyed the hot dog and the fried onion gave it a nice touch. Definitely a must visit for those visiting Iceland. Don't let the long lines turn you away, it goes quick.

This was a great (and cheap) hot dog. Line was quick. Not a huge hot dog fan but had to stop after so many recommendations. Would recommend stopping by!

We were very hungry when we found this place and it was totally worth it. It is probably the only cheap place to eat in the whole city and their hot dogs are surely the best in this part of the country.
It’s not high class or fancy food but it’s a great choice for comfort food.

The combination of sauces and the layering of crispy and fried onions is simple but genius. One of the cheapest and most filling meals you can have in Reykjavik. Believe the hype.

I was expecting amazing things after reading some of the reviews on here but was disappointed.

It was just an average hotdog unfortunately!
