These gardens are not far from the main pedestrian area of town, about a 15 to 20 minute walk up a hill from the church. It is free and there are walking paths, bridges, fountain, and a cafe. Supposedly it contains wooden houses but I didn't see them. It was a good size and pleasant to stroll through. Nice to see if you are in town.

It's tough to run a botanical garden anywhere, but in the near arctic it's even harder.
Don't expect Kew Gardens, this is a world of green and not a ton of colour.
There are some large areas of blooms but all cold weather colors of blue and green.
We missed the big colour show I'm sure, mid August is probably the end of the big colour.
But you can spend an hour or two wondering this peaceful place, and the best part is, almost every plant was labeled.

The flower colors were delightful. The gardens special for the location- a section devoted to Arctic plant and flowers.

This garden is very different from those I have visited in places like the Canary Islands in that it obviously contains many northerly plants, although it also has a lot of more familiar varieties. It is a good place to visit after wandring around the town.

What a pleasant visit and such a surprise to see all the wonderful blooms and beautiful plants. Could have spent hours exploring the most norther botanical garden in the world. Definitely worth a visit for a few hours or longer.
