The flower colors were delightful. The gardens special for the location- a section devoted to Arctic plant and flowers.

This garden is very different from those I have visited in places like the Canary Islands in that it obviously contains many northerly plants, although it also has a lot of more familiar varieties. It is a good place to visit after wandring around the town.

What a pleasant visit and such a surprise to see all the wonderful blooms and beautiful plants. Could have spent hours exploring the most norther botanical garden in the world. Definitely worth a visit for a few hours or longer.

So glad I visited. It happened to be a beautiful, warm day so folks were out sunbathing on the lawn, families were eating outside. The flowers were lovely , I can't believe they could grow in Iceland. On a practical note, there is a restaurant and nice W.C.s

We stopped in Akureyri for a day whilst on a cruise. After walking around the town for the morning, a nice small town we walked up to these gardens (it`s quite a walk up from the town and the best way is to climb the steps up to the church and then bear left). We visited in July and the weather was perfect, sunny and about 20c. Once in the gardens it was difficult to remember that you are only 60 miles from the Arctic Circle for the range of flowers and plants on show. There is a cafe and toilets in the gardens. A must visit for gardeners and a lovely way to spend a couple of hours and it is free.
