Kvarnen has a reputation for hearty, traditional Swedish cuisine, and that's what you get in this bier halle-style restaurant.
We had a great evening meal here: meatballs and reindeer stew respectively, packed with flavour. Portions are large, and there's quite a lot of choice on the menu.
Service was prompt - we waited about 5 minutes for our main to arrive - and the staff speak good English as you'd expect in Stockholm. However it was disappointing to see our waiter get a bit snotty at the end of the meal when he thought we hadn't tipped him; in actual fact we planned to leave a cash tip, which we subsequently reduced.
It didn't totally overshadow our experience at Kvarnen, though - worth saying you should pre-book if you're planning a meal on a Friday or Saturday night, as the place was packed and you're unlikely to get a table if you don't.
