We just returned from spending the weekend at Fairlight. When my husband and I travel, we enjoy staying at guest houses/B&B’s. Fairlight is in our top 10 for sure! The location is stunning with rooms running down a long veranda, sliding glass doors that opening out to an ocean view. The property is beautifully decorated and quite large, so you never feel crowded in upon. Fairlight is literally across the street from the beach and just a 5-minute walk to a few small shops and restaurants (another 5-10 minutes will put you at a small grocery store). You can walk the beach or the sidewalk running the length of the beach. We stayed in the “Michelle” room, which I recommend. It is on the far end – top of the veranda. The room is quite large, but being at the end, no one is walking up and down the veranda in front of your room to get to theirs.
My only issues were 1) the lady beside us was a smoker. Even though she smoked outside, the veranda being open allows the smoke was to drift into other area and rooms. 2) Parking is a challenge – both getting in and out. I realize that the owners cannot control whether the person beside you is a smoker, nor can they control the slope of the front lawn for parking.More
