If you're going to the Ted Ellis Nature Reserve in Surlingham, Norfolk or are anywhere near then don't miss out on the delightful Teles Cafe & Patisserie. Situated in a farm on the road to the Reserve, Portugese Jaoquin Teles produces the most amazing range of continental patisserie including those wonderful Portugese custard tarts - Pasteis de Nata. I doubt you'll find a better selection in nearby Norwich unless they are supplied from here! You can sit inside on cooler days or outside amongst the old brick buildings of the farmyard and soak up the atmosphere of rural Norfolk. I was staying a few hundred yards away on holiday and a visit here became part of our daily routine, made all the more pleasant being served by Jaoquins ever smiling wife. Don't miss it.

When out for a walk in rural Norfolk, the last thing we expected to find was a Portuguese patisserie. We hesitated at first, thinking we had walked through a space time continuum onto the King's Road and that we would be under-dressed for the occasion. In fact it was an absolute delight. Rustic courtyard surroundings outside and cosy seating inside. A mind-boggling choice of both savoury and sweet pastries. We pigged out and had a selection of both and they were light and delicious. Tele and his wife are a lovely, welcoming couple, true artisans, eager to showcase the delights of their home country. We wish them the very best.

Spotted Teles on Facebook and the photos had me hooked. Planned a Sunday morning ride with a break here about 20 miles into the ride. Well what a little gem, it's only been open about a week. A warm welcome, the story behind some of the food on offer was really nice, even some aimed at cyclists, we both had cheese, ham and pesto croissants which hit the mark and a lovely coffee. We sat outside I the farm courtyard as it's was very hot but the setting inside is very welcoming and perfect for an afternoon tea

This bakery/ Patisserie was a very pleasant surprise to find in the middle of the countryside in the courtyard of the "Yare Valley Farm Shop". Rustic looking Cafe with plenty of space inside and out.
It mostly serves the special cakes all baked by the owner . The cakes are literally to die for... an influence of different styles with traditional Portuguese cakes and breads, french patisserie with the amazing looking fine tarts amongst other (as english with a twist). His lovely wife will tell you the stories behind some cakes.
We have had some "Bolas de Berlim", just felt like being back home on the beach. We also bought some homemade bread which is already gone 2 hours later - we didn't even get the chance to take pictures before we devoured everything!
We have had in the past from Joaquim and his wife some cake slices which were fantastic and tasty.
We will surely return many times to try the Portuguese brunch, definitely to order some future birthday cakes and surely to have good coffee again.
We cannot recommend enough this new hidden gem.
Joaquim and his wife will make you feel at home and serve you with a smile (so will the pleasant waitress).
Normal paying price.
Wishing the very best of luck.
