We saw the little mermaid from the water ..I did not realise how small she was.
I believe that the mermaid was turned away from the sea to land so tourists can see her
A shame a she is meant to face the sea so sailors have good luck
Go early so not disappointed
Not a must so much more to see

Part of our routine when visiting a new city is to take a hop-on hop-off sightseeing bus. We are rarely disappointed. One of the stops on the Red bus is to view the little mermaid.
How could anyone visit Copenhagen and not see it for real? It's as iconic to Copenhagen as Tower Bridge is to London or the Statue of liberty is to New York.
It is beautiful, and if you angle your camera right you will capture a special image with a backdrop of the sea.
No she isn't a massive and some find this disappointing.
She is special though and
anyone who visits Copenhagen though without seeing her will no doubt look back with regret that they didn't make the effort.

Definitely something that all the tourist buses make the rounds and stop at. Statue is of one of Hans Christian Andersen's best known characters. Surprisingly small. We walked from our hotel about 8:00pm and it was much more enjoyable and less crowded. Glad we saw it, but I wouldn't consider it a must see.

The statue is beautiful and the symbolic meaning of it is great but it is a bit out of the way and packed with tourists. Nice views.

It is true that it is an iconic symbol of Copenhagen but it is really small.
If you book a boat tour you can go there and even avoid to hope off.
