This is where the Greek submarine Papanikolis hid between raids during WWII. I can only presume it was quite a small boat because the cave is rather modest in size.
It's not an incredible spectacle but we had the cave to ourselves on the day we visited so it was good fun to paddle round in the inflatable, enjoy the crystal clear water and the huge stalactites.
For us, it was a nice break from sailing but I'm not convinced it would have been much fun with another 7 zillion tourists sharing the same small area.

We hired a small speedboat for the day which was real fun. We visited the cave and it was good to see it but it is not massive and what you would probably expect to see.

Papanikolis cave is a huge cave and the hideout of a submarine during the war, we were told this submarine dashed out into the Ionion sea periodically and torpdoed German ships but could never be tracked down as it dissapeared back into the cave. Not sure this is all correct but makes a good tale and the cave is certainly large enough. If you visit from Nidri take the Nikolas boat as the captain is the only one able to turn a boat of this size around in the cave and it is certainly touch and go
