We have been going to Nidri on and off since the late eighties, all except the first time at the Nydrion Beach 1 hotel. A small, friendly family run hotel right on the beach, formerly under the leadership of the late lamented Harris who passed away a couple of years ago, but now the family tradition is continued by son Dimitri and the rest of the family. All those years ago we just knew that Nidri would get too big for it's beach and there was a twelve year break in our visits, but the location and ambience of the hotel still pulls us back. The hotel is on the edge of the busy part of town but only a short walk into the centre where there are many restaurants, but we would recommend walking in the opposite direction where there are several good restaurants right on the beach.
Where once there was a large collection of photos of guests behind the reception desk, now there is just one 6x4 picture of Harris keeping an eye on things. I'm sure he would be very proud of the way the family have continued as he himself established the relationship with guests. We would go back more regularly than we do, but living in Portugal makes is somewhat more expensive to get there.

Room Tip: Rooms 30, 31,21,20 have the best views.

Have stayed there twice, rooms are good especially sea- facing ones, but most have a view. Central and on the beach. Staff are wonderful, helpful and friendly. Will definately go back.

I spent 6 nights here and had a great time. The hotel is absolutely on the beach (maybe 20 meters to the sea). The rooms are kept exceptionally clean and mine had the quietest air-com I have ever enjoyed! The hotel is close to the town and about 10 mins walk from all of the lovely restaurants in the port area but is far enough to ensure peace and quiet at night. Everyone was immensely friendly and made us feel as welcome as could be. Wireless available in the rooms and breakfast area (which is also the bar) on the beach. A lovely place and I will definitely be going back!

I stayed here for a week out of season in April 2011 after a few days on a yacht in bad weather and was very impressed by the kindness and professionalism of the family who run this small hotel. The room was spotlessly clean and the breakfast was good - everything works. There is wifi in the reception and breakfast area. I think it is open all year round (but check their website) and has central heating. Rates were very reasonable at this time of year and the view from the best rooms is wonderful. Very few other views compare - looking out to sea with Onassis island Skorpios in the middle distance. It felt more like staying with friends than being in a hotel. No pool but it is right on the beach five metres from the sea on what I consider to be one of the most beautiful islands in Greece.´It is quietly situated very close to the town quay with payphones, a bus stop, and shops nearby - but not too near.. From the road it is an ordinary, unassuming building behind a small apartment block and you could very easily miss it. If you want glitz and bright lights it is not your kind of a place. I should probably have kept it a secret. A great address for older low season travellers.

We stayed for just one night at Nydri Beach Hotel, (Or Nidri Beach), before we boarded a sailboat. The Hotel location was perfect. Close enough to walk, far enough away from the bustle of down town. We had a room facing the sea. I highly recommend this, as it is only a marginal difference in price and there is a balcony with a breath taking view. The people at the hotel were friendly, helpful and just down right fun. The room was a little small, but that seemed to be the norm in Greece. If we go back, that is where we will stay.

Room Tip: Get a Sea View Room, it's worth it.
