From start to finish the dining experience at Sofrano's was simply outstanding. On arrival we were led to the back by the kitchen to pick the fish we wanted for dinner. All was so exquisitely explained, mouth watering with the detailed description. We selected the Scorpion fish. The fish was well presented and superbly cooked, accompany by a wonderful spinach/pear/fennel/pistachio salad with a dressing to die for, perfectly complementing the fish. A nice house organic white topped it off nicely. The Apple pie for dessert was the perfect end to what was an unforgettable meal.
The service was outstanding as we were waited on like royalty.
Located on the beach in Loutra's well protected harbour, the many sail boats that were berthed for the night made for an idyllic and rather romantic ambiance.
Having spent time in Loutra's southing and natural thermal spa carved in the beach provided the perfect preamble for a wonderful night at Sofrano's.
Go, you will not be disappointed.

Everyone is always so friendly when you walk by their restaurants in Greece, engaging you in conversation and inviting you to dine there. Its their hands on marketing style and the Sofranos greeter was quick to provide their card with a trip advisor logo (and Facebook and instagram) inviting us to review the ratings there and see if we didnt find them the best in Kythnos. We were keen to dine by the water and their tables were set up nicely and we decided that the lot of us from the boat we sailed in on would come here for our dinner. The house red was undrinkable and we had to return it ( better for salad dressing) and the "only remaining bottle of red in the cupboard" was Euros 35. we went for it and it was pretty good if pricey. Our dinner was alright - started with Octopus carpaccio. but we felt a little bitter afterwards as we had hoped to use credit cards, and the staff insisted that they did not accept cards. some of us had cash, so we worked it out amongst ourselves. But its our understanding that you are required to accept cards if you dont have a cash only sign up somewhere. i'm going to guess that at the end of the season, things are little different then at peak, so i can only offer that we werent thrilled in mid October.

We visited Sofrano some about one week ago.We were for some days with my colleagues on holidays. We checked the reviews and we gave it a try..The food i can say was not as expected..The fish were overcooked , the taramosalata was definitely old and the fries were just soggy instead of nice and crispy...A simple bottle of wine was 35 euros..We were unlucky because we couldn't pay by cash..I dont know what the problem was exactly so i had to go and make some cash 10-15 minutes driving to the city centre..

Thank you for the feedback!
We are very sorry that you have a negative impression about the dishes.
We use only best local ingredients and every dish is prepared and plated right before service.
Your review is the only negative review our establishment received this summer season. I regret that our staff did not have the chance to address your concern while you dined with us and that you felt a negative review was your only option. Should any patron of our restaurant have the slightest concern, we are prompt to act. It is disappointing there was not this option with you and your experience.
You are welcome to visit anytime!

Best regards

I'm with a group traveling by sailboat from Santorini to Athens. We had the pleasure of stopping at Kythnos and were directed to Sofrano for dinner. We had cheese balls with onion jam, sardines, and ceviche for appetizer. For my main I enjoyed octopus in honey. Everything I tried was amazing. The table itself was on the beach and we had a beautiful sunset. The staff was well versed in English (and French) and was very sweet. The natural spring spa is the draw to this island, but Sofrano is worth the trip.

This was by far one of the best meals I've had during this trip. Set by the beach amidst lovely decoration, friendly service, first rate fish, meat, delicious starters, a good selection of some of the bests white and red greek wines... We truly enjoyed this place, I highly recommend it... Oh, and they also have yummy desserts and a little shop with traditional products.
